Fixed one problem and created two more
« on: July 29, 2011, 07:13:48 PM »

My bike was surging at certain rpms so I went in search of why.  Used WD40 to spray around intake to check for a leak and found nothing.
I changed the fuel filter about 5k back so I knew that was not the problem.  Found it was an exhaust leak around the header.  Took exhaust off, put new gaskets in and wallaa no more surging.

Now I can't get the cruise to engage,  the light on the speedo is on red but when I try and set it nothing.
Next I can't get the garage door to sync/work.

My guess is the WD40 got into something near the throttle body and had an impact on the cruise???   But what in the world does this have to do with the garage door opener not working??

One step forward and two steps backwards.  I think I will spend the rest of the night banging my head against the wall.

Any help appreciated.  I hooked up the Tmax and no new codes?

I did drop one of the nuts from the header bolt and had to fish it out with a magnet.  It is a small magnet and I used it in the starter area but I highly doubt that contributed to my new problems.  I know magnets can do weird things with electrics.

Still working on cruise.  Not much in the Maintenance Manual to help with this one.

Yes and no.  I checked the fuses but did not find anything specific for cruise control.
