Finally got them all done.
« on: July 30, 2011, 01:17:48 AM »

Off topic subject here,

But today, affter searching long and hard, I finally found the elusive and difficult to contact Richard G. He is known in the circles of the LA Motorcycle Escort business as the best KZ wrench for the dollar. A former mechanic at Mid-Cities Kawasaki he used to work on bikes for the CHP and other police departments.

So today he came out to my house. He was here from 8am to 6pm and worked on all six of my KZPs. He adjusted clutches, synced and balanced the carbs and set the mixtures. He even took off two sets of carbs and benched them for a partial dissemble and cleaning. While those were off we resealed the carb holders. He ran a compression check on all cylinders and checked spark plugs and changed them if needed.

The good news is that the two bikes I thought needed clutches were okay. The bad news is that two of the bikes that I thought had clean carbs needed cleaning. Furthermore he pointed out how I had improperly installed air filters.

Now the bikes all run really well and I was out there doing full lock turns on my test rides. I really don't care how fast these bikes run top end at wide open throttle, I just need them smooth and dependable for my clients.

Next up, oil changes and rear brake pads. Those I can do myself.

The riders in the August 14th class are in for a real treat!

Today was a good day!
