Front injector bad given by code
« on: August 02, 2011, 09:11:18 AM »

A question to you guys with a lot of smarts.
I have a 01 SERG, it started missing bad, read code it said front injector was bad. I replaced both and the bike run better than ever.
500 miles later and this Sat the same thing happened, read code, front injector is bad.
What could be causing this or what else could cause the ecm to think my injector is bad.
I have 95000 miles and not had a problem in the last 50000.
Can anybody point me in a direction or has heard of this before.
Thanks
Chris Schrowangen

Chris, it's not unheard of that the harnesses to the injectors have problems.  They sometimes break in the short stretch between where they leave the wrap of the main harness and attach to the injector.  Sometimes the wires break within the insulation so you don't obviously see it.

If that type of problem was going on just handling the harness for the injector change might have improved the contact; for awhile.  May or may not be your problem.  But it's worth checking.

Maybe the problem and when you moved the wiring around to replace the injector it made contact and was working, then with motor vibration it separated again.
