What did you miss that the dealer won't fix now?

A small dent in the front fender. It is in the black painted portion near the tip. Unless you get it in the right light...it can be tough to see. I can understand why it was missed inside at the dealership. I saw it as soon as I got home...and reported it immediately.

They have not said no. Just waiting to hear from the service manager on how they will resolve.

...probably a good idea to get it out in the sun...and turn it around a time or two ...just to get good light on all the painted and chromed surfaces and in all the nooks and crannies

When I bought my SESG, I went to the dealership, told them to leave me alone for a half hour, then my wife and I went over the bike from end to end.  It paid off, I found a small paint chip on fairing.  HD had to replace.  I'm sure if I'd driven it home, they would have claimed the chip came from a rock.

BTW, when I have to take my bike in for service work, I remove the bags and side covers.  Dealer cant damage bags/side covers if they don't have them.

I always go over my bike, when first picked up and before (with the service writer) and after (with the service writer) I have service done.  They seem to like when I do that.  Protects both of us.  If there are any imperfections before service they will be noted and like-wise if there are others after they will be fixed by the dealer.  It works.  I found water rings in the clear-coat of my tank on my SEURG and a large, deep scratch in the inner fairing behind the instrument pod, both were missed in the PDI...the dealer/MoCo replaced both.  I had a chip in the corner of the fairing just behind the windshield molding, and some defects that were hard to see on the inner fairing on SESG when I first picked that up, Dealer/MoCo replaced both.  It definitely pays to go over the bike thoroughly.

Before I have any dealer servicing performed I always take a xanax just to help with my anxiety because so far I haven't successfully had service performed where there weren't some issue such as a scratch, loose belt, chipped powdercoating on engine case, axle covers misaligned, etc. . . . where the hell is that bottle of xanax?

Apparently CVO owners are a breed unto themselves (glad it's not just me). Does anyone else look at their bike under a handheld strong light to look for flaws and dirt?

Every time I take delivery of a new bike, I move it outside, and proceed to wipe it down, and polish all paint and chrome. My dealer knows to leave me alone for an hour or so, then I finish paperwork. This has helped me find defects/damage before I own it.

Just had new tires and brake pads installed.  Got home and pulled my iPod off to add some new playlists and the plastic connector was cracked in two.  They are going to get me a new one but now its more time out of my day to get this handled.  I like the idea about removing the bags before getting work done.
