Huge semi's really don't belong on that route.  I've been on it and I know that it's tough enough for cars and SUVs to get through.  Look at those pictures.   Really bad decisions when truckers use the dragon to get to or back to NC. There has to be a better way for them to go.   :nixweiss:    And safer.

No such thing as that ... 129 is open to all traffic.  Even though I agree, as a motorcyclist, that big trucks should not be allowed on the Dragon, I understand why they take it.  It cuts about 40 miles off of their trip to use 129 instead of going around.

Trucks are banned from 441 across the mountain and its a better road.
There have been a lot of acidents on 129 with trailers pulled across hoods of cars or forced of the mountain if your lucky.

I agree the truck should be banned.  The Huge warning signs many of the truckers seem to ignore.  It really does not save them any time, most drivers will only drive a truck over it once.

+Agree. It is a State roadway. Not just 18 wheelers but at any given time you may encounter big pickup pulling the huge camper or large boat. FYI.

Even worse - it is a U.S. Highway!   So if you are not familiar with it and just look at a map you have no idea what you are getting yourself in to.

And the GPS sure doesn't say "this is a motorcycle road" or "not suggested for trucks".  California has a lot of those roads.....you get behind a motorhome pulling a car or trailer or a big truck you're either going to be passing on a double yellow or you're in for a long day.  Our two lane twisties are a lot longer than 11 miles.

Here's a picture of Jock on one of our roads....

The Garmin For truckers that I was looking at shows US-129 in TN as a road with a Truck Advisory dues to extremely sharp curves.

Advisory, Not restricted
I agree, and that is what I posted.  You would think most OTR drivers would know that means very bad news for them, and not a good route.

I am not a professional driver, and know when a road has an Advisory against trucks its not a good road for my pick up and 32 foot RV, so I choose a smarter route.  You would think a Professional driver would make an intelligent decision also.

Needs to be restricted. Nothing against truckers (heck I have a Class A CDL myself) but if it's possible to go down a road and not restricted, it's fair game.
