Question about Vance & Hines Power Duals
« on: August 05, 2011, 06:01:53 PM »

I currently have a 2010 street glide non-cvo with the V&H Power Duals and Monster Rounds.  I have orderd a new 2012 CVO street glide and want to know if there are any concerns with moving that exhaust to the new bike.

Thanks!

Shouldn't be a problem the the header (Power Duals) but I don't think the Monster Rounds will work the the extended bags on the CVO Street Glide.

I think they will.  I believe the monster rounds are 4" diameter which is what comes on the CVO SERG and SESG.  I am running the Hi-Outputs which are 4 1/2" diameter with no trouble.

Aren't the O2 sensors a different size?

O2 sensors from 2009 and 2010 are different..from 2010 and later they are the same.  09 had the larger sensors mounted near the heads, 10 and later have the small sensors mounted down near the trans.

Yep ... I was thinking the Monster Ovals for some reason. Thanks for the correction.

Haven't they changed them again on 2012 models though?

The 110" engine will be louder than the 96" (assuming both are stock) with the same exhaust system.  Some people don't like the change; depends on your preference.

To the best of my recollection they updated only the Softail's and Dyna's to the smaller heated sensors for 2012, which is what the Touring models got in 2010.  So moving the headers from a 2010 SG to a 2012 SG shouldn't be a problem.

Very true. Last year I bought a 2011 FLTRU with the 103 motor with Power Duals and Monster Rounds and had it tuned with the SEPST. The sound was absolutely perfect - incredibly deep and mellow without being too loud. After a year, I traded it for a 2011 SERGU and had the headers and pipes moved over to the new bike. I had to buy another SEPST. The sound is totally different - it's incredibly loud and the smoothness is gone. It's just really LOUD. I got a lot of compliments on the first bike, but now I get a lot of dirty looks. So I kept the Power Duals and put the stock SE pipes back on but they are too quiet. The Monster Rounds are back on and I've ordered a set of 2" Fullsac CVO cores.
