Opening night I got to see up close the Root Beer/Black one. What's it called Maple? Isn't Maple, syrup and sloooow? Looks more like Root Beer to me. Has real nice carbonation (metal flakes). But, all the rest of the black out effect is not for me. It's looking obvious to me that chrome must be expensive and paint's cheaper and the profit margin is higher. Nope!
And the front fender, OMG, they just used a standard fender. It's not slammed like ours or the '11 Ultra (How did the '11 get that fender with those short bags?). The paint scheme at least helps hides the burden of a standard fender, but, Nope!
However, I do like the new seat. When you sit on it, it doesn't appear to creep down to the frame. And, it's got the Heavy Breather, which really helps with the heat. But, it's not chrome.
Skulls? I'm told Willy G designed the original Tour Glide Fairing (1979?), which is basically the RG Fairing. And, that he now designs skulls. So, maybe it's a tribute to Willy G. Or, it could be that they're capturing the rumor of the end of RG production after the '09s. A premonition of some sort? Nah.
We've got the all time classic SERG on a new frame too!
Ok, if you can't get an '09 then the '12's a great option. But, keep looking for a 9.
