S&S SPO Mufflers
« on: August 08, 2011, 06:03:26 PM »

Anybody have any experience with the new S&S SPO's?   Do they perform any better than the other "quiet" exhaust systems on the market?  They certainly look better than the original SPOs.

Darn. Not one reply. I guess that is my answer...  If nobody has any experience with SPOs, they must not be too good.

I wouldn't conclude they're not good just because no one here apparently uses them.  S&S makes great products.  Performance wise, I would suspect they are superior.  Personally, I don't care for their looks...but that's subjective on my part...   :nixweiss:

I have the first generation SPO on my 2006 and love the sound and quality, several members here have used them in the past too. I like the looks of the new second generation SPOs but haven't heard or seen a set yet. I would have gotten a pair for my 2009 but they weren't out yet and the old SPOs would not fit on the 2009 with the extended saddlebags.

Had considered the SPO's myself.  Got to say, I think Dunbar is right:  the folks at S & S don't make any junk.  But these were super spendy.  That was my show-stopper.  Still interested, though.  I think there were some posts on the site somewhere concerning these muffs.

I ran SPOs on my '01 Ultra for one month back in 2007.  The sound was decent and not too loud, but all of that changes with displacement and build. I got rid of them because I kept dragging the outside corner on freeway on ramps. And as much as I tried, I could not get used to the looks.
