There you have it folks, the expert has spoken.
Not that the answer has anything to do with the topic of this thread but this is the internet.

But if we going off topic then I suspect with a sales comparison of,

Sharknose Screamin Eagles      8,900

Batwing    Screamin Eagles    34,980

someone must be liking that plywood.
Just sayin, , , ,

SBB

If the Motor Company made more Ultra RG's, they would sell more of them. JMHO The #'s are not a true comparison as they haven't offered the RG as an ultra that often. Mine is the 99 ultra special ordered in 1999. I am the 2nd owner.
Even the non CVO models with the lowers on are HOT!

C'mon SBB, lets add a few facts to the numbers. How many models offer the Batwing...and how many offer the Shark Nose? For a few years now H-D has offered at least 2 models with the Batwing (Ultra & Street Glide) compared to only 1 Shark Nose (Custom or Ultra). 2 against 1 ain't a fair fight. Just sayin'........  ;)

Those are the facts Jerry.
Look at the subject of this thread, does it say SEEG or Ultra batwings or SERG or Ultra Shark Nose?
Nope, it list either batwing or sharknose.
Sales dictates the most popular model of the above.
And based on the numbers listed above the batwing holds an approx  4 to 1 edge.

But to get on topic, as a current owner of a batwing and also a sharknose IMHO I don't believe the two fairing styles affect the engine heat in any way.

I agree with the numbers, and not to go off topic, but I was far more impressed with the shark nose riding it than I ever was looking at it ... To each his own, but from the seat I preferred the shark and the lighter feeling on the bars.  Looking at it "from the bar" I prefer the batwing ... :)

Was the original question about the heat the rider feels on each bike? Or the engine heat? I'd think taking the lowers off in the summer would be a great help. How many do that? How many feel that it kills the style so much they'd rather roast? :huepfenlol2:

As to the whole idea that sales #'s indicate the best????????? :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: Budweiser is the King of sales I think but there are better brews.

Original question was engine heat differences between them.  Pulling the lowers on the SESG2 is doable but not a lot of fun.

Not that big of a deal if you have the quick release mounts on your leg fairings.  But they still look like a bike running around with it's pants down, when the leg fairings are off.  The look good at all costs......especially on a Street Glide. :2vrolijk_21:

The original question was about what the rider FEELS. (It was my question)

I have these on my '10...it's still a PITA, but I do remove mine in July and August. On the '11 or '12 SESGs, do you have to remove the speaker to get to the upper bolt/screw to remove the lowers? Or has it been relocated?

I fully agree with this.  Same goes with the bikes, the most sold does not mean the best

I have a 2012 SG on the way and would like to remove the lowers.  I plan on only using them for early spring and late fall when it gets pretty cold up here in NH.  Anyway, I have never heard of the quick release mounts for the lowers.  Are these a Harley part that can be added to any lowers?
