Another SERT vs TTS Thread
« on: August 10, 2011, 03:34:04 PM »

I have an opportunity to pick up a new in box SERT which comes with cable for $350. I can get the TTS for $375 but the cable is an extra $70. Is the TTS that much better?

If you want to tune it youself (using VTune) then you need the TTS product.  If you are going to have someone tune it on a dyno or if you are just going to load a canned map and make no changes then the SERT would get the job done.

The TTS has more capabilities in the hands of a great tuner.  I'd suggest Bob at RC Cycles in Hayward, Ca...   :2vrolijk_21:

get whatever your tuner recommends. maybe even buy it from them :2vrolijk_21: both will get you the same tune in the right hands.

I am sure they are both more than adequate for the normal shade tree.  The deciding factor for me is the outstanding support and the available maps from Fullsac for their setups.  They both share perhaps 98% of the same DNA and differ in the gui?

Make sure you are comparing the SE Pro Race tuner... list around $500?

Iron,

I think you may be confusing the wrong acronym's with your post.

The SERT hasn't been made in YEARS, so if your picking one up you should reconsider this purchase.  The SERT was only for up to the '07 models and even some of the bikes like the 110's it didnt support correctly/totally.  The SESPT (Screaming Eagle Street Performance Tuner)  is the replacement for the SERT from Mother Harley, but it is not made by Steve Cole.  Steve Cole the original producer of the SERT now delivers the TTS Mastertune to us for our bikes.

No, you don't want the SESPT.  The closest comparable product in the Harley line to the TTS would be the SEPST (Screamin' Eagle Pro Super Tuner).  The SESPT is a joke put out by Harley to try to fool folks like the EPA and to screw customers out of more cash.  All it is good for is downloading and installing various street legal calibrations from H-D.

You get some extra things that can be changed with the TTS....like altering the the 'sensitivity' of the TBW, easy spedo re-cal, and some more that I don't recall off the top of my head.
