We just returned from a 2900_ mile ride up the California coast from Santa Maria to Eureka, and then we took 299 across to 44 down to 89 into Reno. from Reno we went down 28 around Lake Tahoe went down 89 to California 4, up over Ebbettts Pass (fantastic road) down to 120 and through Yosemite (at night, not something I would suggest, but time was not on our side) over to 395, then Ca 166 to Nv 266 to 95 into Vegas and then back home to Az.

Ca 1 along the coast was great, the Lost Coast highway to  Cape Mendocino/Capetown the destination is the western most point of the US main land, but the road, if you can call it a road, in places doesn't exist, holes large enough to swallow your bike, gravel and dirt everywhere, not advisable to ride a street bike down it.  Glad we did, wish we didn't.

Stopped lots for construction, but didn't have to wait too long and any place, but lots of one lane areas with lots of gravel
