Gas milage?
« on: August 17, 2011, 04:23:42 PM »

Just curious what people are getting for gas milage with either the 2010 or 2011 flstse?
Other than the mufflers, mine is stock. Did change out the V&H Double barrel I put on earlier (just a little too loud) for the slashdown SE mufflers #80495-07. After I installed them, went on 426 mile ride last Saturday up over the Beartooth Pass into Yellowstone Park and back home again. 9am to 9pm - and the milage stayed the same.

I consistantly get 37.8-9 mpg no matter how I ride. In town, back and forth to work, highway.
Is that about the normal mpg everyone else is getting?

As an fyi, the rear O2 sensor is very easy to move from one muffler to the other after the battery is removed. Took about 1/2 an hour to figure that out. :beerchug:

2011 Totally Stock, except for SE Slipons, I range from 30 MPG doing in-town speedy things I shouldn't, to highway top MPG of 42.88.

Lucky if I get 25-30.  I ride hard and fast.  I also have a cam and pipes as well as a tuner.

Who cares. I didn't pay 30,000 dollars on a fun toy to worry about gas milage. It has better gas mileage than any sports car or boat. :orange:

You know I can see not really caring about ones gas mileage, as some of you have said, but it is also interesting to know as well.  We just got back a few weeks ago from a 4,500 mile tour from New Mexico to Canada and when your in Wyoming and the next gas station is over 150 miles away or more, then it is nice to know how far you can go.

I did check the mileage throughout our trip and I generally got around 48 miles to the gallon. Once I got a whopping 54 miles to the gallon but I was going through New Mexico and the wind was behind us. On the open roads we were going at least 70 miles an hour riding two up so I was a bit shocked at getting such good results.  I've changed the pipes, tuner, cams and had the heads worked on so I was expecting worse mileage because my little Convertible is lightning fast now. I guess this was a lesson for me, I spent a lot upgrading my bike for performance expecting to suffer on the mileage end of the equation but was certainly pleasantly surprised that the opposite happened.  My mileage before I had anything done was under 40 miles to the gallon, maybe around 38.

Isn't this the best web-site???

I care for the sake of information, not for the purpose of worrying.
It's all about information, communication and learning, that's what a great site forum such as this one is all about.
Besides, nowhere did I read about anyone worrying about their mileage.

At a 60 mile commute every day. I like the 43.6 miles per gallon.  :huepfenjump3: However, that doesn't mean I don't get on it and have fun with it when I want. :soapbox:
