Dealer called me back today to tell me there is a download for my 09SERG and to bring it in. they said they will do it while I wait. About 30 min. Going to get over there ASAP.  :2vrolijk_21:

Well it rained here all week of my vacation but I did manage to get to the shop on Friday and get the software mod loaded. It took about 10 mins and they did it while I waited and watched. I have only ridden about 200 miles since but have not had any problems. The jury is still out. I will keep you informed as I get some more miles on it.

Just remember that no software patch nor other ABS calibration, nor any type of brakes at all, will make you stop when the road is bumpy enough that the tires are off the ground for any amount of time.  Doesn't matter whether you're "getting air" by microns or by inches or by feet.  Tires need a good consistent contact patch to stop the machine.

Hey Faceracer. I see you have the TTS. did you put your bike back to the factory settings before having this done? I'm getting my ABS mod done and don't need these technicians screwin with my ECM.

ABS and EFI are completely different computers. ABS programming has no effect on the EFI. They even have a different port to plug into.

This may be true but read this thread, the opening post and reply #2. He brought his scoot in for some service work and they checked ABS software and saw some things that they thought they needed to change in ECM and couldn't. They ended up replacing ECM and he was screwed because he didn't remove TTS map. Dealer didn't need to be in that ECM but they did and it caused a headache. I would suggest anytime you bring your bike in to do as instructed by TTS. Remove and install back to stock. :2vrolijk_21:

REALLY???

Where is it located? I have not seen this mentioned in any H-D manual.

My thoughts exactly. .Either that or make sure the HD techs are told not to touch the ECM.

Has this been resolved?
Thought I’d add my perspective regarding ABS from Honda.  The GL1800 I just sold had ABS.  I can say without reservation that it performed flawlessly and helped me stop quickly on several occasions over the five years I rode it.
The symptoms described above are not normal.  ABS is supposed to improve your ability to stop, no matter the road conditions.  A bumpy road should not inhibit your ability to stop, except in the most extreme situations.  What Dark Knight experienced definitely appears to be a defect in the ABS system.
ABS isn’t a panacea for all situations, but it can make a huge difference on a slick road or in panic stops.
I wish the 07s had ABS.  It didn’t occur to me to check that little detail when shopping.  Now, I’m a bit more apprehensive riding without.  Even so, the Honda was the first bike I ever owned with ABS, so I’m not too broken up about it.  Just aware….

Sorry for the late reply guys.  Have been out a few weeks.  I called the dealer and he basically said the same that a few here have mentioned.  If the tire isn't touching the ground because of bumps then that is what happens.  Bottom line is this will happen with our without ABS.  If the wheel doesn't touch the ground you won't stop either way.
UPDATE:  I had the closest call I've ever had in my 30+ years of riding a bike.  Was doing about 40 MPH and an old guy decided to pull out right in front of me.  I locked up the front and rear brakes and could already see my bike being smashed.  Amazingly I stopped about 4 INCHES from their car.  I  was amazed I didn't hit him and attribute the quick stop to my ABS because it was CLOSE!!!
Thanks for all the feedback.

We all know that regular practice of threshold combination braking is something that needs to be done at least once a month to keep our skills and feel in tune with the bike. If you have ABS, you MUST practice with it to learn how it reacts and what it does. Otherwise when it does kick in during an emergency, you may be surprised at how the bike feels and reacts.

so far no problems since the new software was loaded. I have had a close call already with a deer and a car. They worked great! Yes the abs is a seperate computer and has its own port for programming. I forgot who asked but that is the case.
