so far no problems since the new software was loaded. I have had a close call already with a deer and a car. They worked great! Yes the abs is a separate computer and has its own port for programming. I forgot who asked but that is the case.

Please tell me where this port is located and where the separate computer is. My Harley ABS training must be wrong and I guess I need to go back to Milwaukee and take the class again.

See attachment.  The ABS has it's own ECU (electronic control unit) which is mounted to the HCU (hydraulic control unit, otherwise known as the pump and valves), located under the right side cover.  I do believe that the same data link connector is used for both the ECM and the ABS-ECU.

The service bulletin says the update is free as long as the warranty is valid. Have they still been offering the update at no charge after warranty?

Update: My ABS Lamp is on Continuously! Chart says - ABS inoperative - Refer to dealer for diagnostics. And my rear brake pedal is not lighting the brake light. Probably a bad pressure switch. Off to the dealer I go.  :veryangry2:

Sorry I think this was a case of me misunderstanding what was being stated. It was the 2nd separate port for programming the ABS unit I was asking about.

Mechanic at the HD shop told me Sat. that the ECM and ABS computers use the same programming port.

This is info I have posted on another thread. FYI!

Update: Went to dealer on Sat. morning. they said ABS had a software error. They reflashed the abs computer and bleed the brakes with the digital assistant. Mechanic said all is good now.He told me the pressure switch is not bad? I rode it home about 3 miles and checked the brake light with rear brake and it does not work! ABS light is out now and does not come on at all! Talked to dealer this morning they said bring it back over and they will get if fixed right away. ERRRRRRRRR!
