ANYBODY RUN INTO THIS ???
« on: August 22, 2011, 11:48:03 AM »

Hey... I told you guys that I would post my dyno map....... I had to take bike back to Joe ''the tuner''.and...
After he dynoed it the motor had a surge @2400 to 2900 rpms.
After about a half hour of Joe trying to dial it out he found that fuel pressure would not hold.
Turns out one of the fuel lines has a hole in it and was losing pressure.

HAS ANYBODY HAD THAT PROBLEM ?

My ride has only 6500 miles on it. It now sits at the dealership.

Thinking I was going to be leaving with a new tune... I left with my bike on the tuners trailer driving his truck. By the way,
is that lending a hand to a bro or what. It was the second time I met this GENTLEMAN.
Joe tells me that he is going to show the CVO boys a map and a half once I get the bike back to him from the dealership..
MAP to follow...........
The guy is a hell of a tuner and a dam nice guy !!!  Joe's cycle repair..Mechanicville, New York.

Pin holes in the internal fuel lines isn't a new thing.  At your low miles it is unusual though.

At first I thought my tuning guy might think I was nuts. It would not do it all the time.. Just when the fuel got to a center level in the tank.

Pin holes in the internal fuel lines isn't a new thing.  At your low miles it is unusual though.

I had a bike that had a hole in the hose in the tank. (white plastic line)
At around 90 miles on that tank full the bike would start coughing and sputtering.
The bike had 15K on it.
Easy fix though.

I think that the better question would be who hasn't run into pin holes in their fuel lines!

My 2006 Fat Boy had that problem at just over 10,000 miles.  Sounded like a weird problem when it happened, but I guess it's more common then I had thought.

I think that the better question would be who hasn't run into pin holes in their fuel lines!
None in these bikes:
01 Kaw 1500FI - 50,000 miles
05 Kaw 2000 - 60,000 miles
08 HD CUSE - 51,000 miles

All three bought new.

If this is a common problem, does anybody have any idea as to the cause ?
I had some Amsoil octane boost in it for a few tanks thought maybe that was the culprit.
You would think that they would run a hard line if possible.

It's the white plastic line in the tank.
I'm sure Jerry (GRC) can rustle us up a picture.
Jerry?
