Greg,

That Suzuki Intruder is a good bike and a perfect one for her to start out on. It's good good size, good power and is dpendable. As long as it hasn't been sitting too long and the carbs are all gummed up you should be fine. By the way, that place on Washington that used to be the Suzuki dealer is now an independant shop. Fred the main mechanic is pretty good. He's worked on one of my KZ Police bikes before.

Greg, last friend I had that wanted to start riding we got her started on the small Vulcan.  That's about the same size bike as the Intruder.  It was a great light handling bike to get her started on.  Your Intruder should be a great choice.

Let her ride it and have fun.
When it's Harley time the right deal will come along.
If she is truly a rider a Harley will pop up when she is ready.
Good luck.

My wife Sheila learned to ride on a Kawasaki Vulcan 750.  Now she has a 2000 FXR4 - which is a perfect bike for her.  It's the right size and weight, and handles very nicely.  Plus, it's a CVO!

Some interstellar cop would be all over someone who tried to ride a small Vulcan :huepfenlol2: .

(I bet the green slave girls of Orion would be a lot more fun though!)

Oh, and those three were (wait for it) sisters!  Maras was my personal favorite though.  Apparently some guys like GFs to try out the Princess Leia costume.  I always had a thing for the greenies ??? .

That used to be the law.  Now they require you to specify in advance that vehicle will not be used on public roads.   We tried.

Well, i've gotta disagree based on my experience.. My father-in-law had a 72 Jeep sitting in the barn for over 10 years.. He passed away last May. Two weeks ago we pulled the Jeep out and prepped it to sell, only thing we needed to update the registration. The DMV in Auburn had us sign a waiver that the Jeep was not operated on public roads since its last registration in 2002.. We were good to go and the Jeep now has a happy new owner. No late fees nada...  :2vrolijk_21:

Back on topic. I have six Kawasaki Police bikes for training of which two are street legal. The other four are kept in a non-operating capacity and cost me nothing each year as long as they are not street ridden. If I ever choose to register them I would just have to pay the regular registration fee and show proof of insurance.

I think we need to do a road trip to Orion. I hear the women there are irresistable.

cvobiker:  Thanks!  I will tell my friend to try.  It was he that said he contacted the DMV so I was quoting him.

Mark:  Orion sounds great!  Joan had her first "Street" ride and loved it.  She needs a lot of practice, of course but I think she'll be fine.  Here she is on a quiet street.
