Immigration, what a mess.
My father's parents came from Ireland ~ 1919 and settled in Baltimore.
As a family we have done well. Most all worked and supported their families. Some fought in the wars, a few died as well.
My mother's family has been here since the early 1700s...and also done well. There was that brief slave owner thing, but even the decendants of those slaves now own much of the old property in Virginia, so we can't complain about our immigrant beginnings.
The Native Americans that were displaced are now taking revenge at the casino tables.
It all goes around and around.
The DUI issue has no defense. Someone makes a choice to drink and operate a motor vehicle should expect the full weight of society's wrath should their actions cause injury. Citizen, alien wether legal or not, from another planet or dimension...
I say put their head on a pike and LET THEM ROT.
What can we expect, we have no fiscal restraint, personal, State or Federal. We don't enforce our laws, except the easy, revenue generating ones. Our borders are a laughing stock to most other countries.
And of course we, as a country invite eveyrone to come:
The New Colossus
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame,
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
by Emma Lazarus, New York City, 1883
If we refuse to CLOSE THE DOOR, can we at least take away their car keys!
