New radio for my FLHTCUSE2
« on: August 28, 2011, 04:24:03 PM »

Hi!

My Harman Kardon is dying slowly: the music cuts off after a few minutes and I can get it back for a short moment using the speaker switch and then it cuts again.
I could make it repaired by Iron Cross, but this Harman Kardon is too much obsolete for me so I think I'm gonna change for a real modern one using biketronics install kit. ;)
After a long search for a new model, I've chosen the Kenwood KIV-700 which do not have CD player but use Ipod or USB.
I would like to know if someone use this model or which alternative music player do you use ?
 :)

Bonjour,

You will find beaucoup information on aftermarket head units replacing the Harman Kardon on hdforums.com in the "Touring" forum.

Also, do you plan to remove/not use the OEM amplifier?  If you plan to retain the amp, you'll need to some modification to the amp's wiring harness to adapt it to an aftermarket head unit.

Bon chance avec votre project!!

Carl

PS:  Please advise me on the French; it's been 40 years since high school French class. ;D

I don't think I'm going to keep the factory amplifier because it's a 2 ohms and my new unit is going to be 4 ohms. Anyway a normal car unit is as powerfull as a HK + amplifier so...

P.S. : it used to have another reply but it as disappeared  ???
