Hi all, just traded my 2010 FLHTK for the 2011 CVO Road Glide Ultra in Rio Red and joined this forum. Loved the Ultra Classics and did many a sweet mile through Europe on them. Hope RG is as good, roll on Friday when I pick her up from Waterford HD.
I got the bike...wow! Harley even go to the bother of chroming the wheel weights and stamping them with their logo!
So, to compare a road glide with an Electra glide after only a week, here are my first impressions.
The bike turns heads everywhere it goes, and is great to drive. Very stable, (much more so than the Electra glides, and they weren't bad by any means) in windy conditions, or behind trucks. Lighter steering is very noticeable over e glides...
Your hands are more exposed to the elements on the r glide, no batwing fairing.
In hot weather, ( never an issue here unfortunately) you cannot re direct air to cool you down via the batwing vents.
The r glide 110 screaming Eagle seems to have a bit more vibration than the 103 on the e glide, especially on throttle off.
Wheels on r glide are so much easier to clean!
Central locking is a great feature and one I would have not been too pushed about until I had it.
Great lights once adjusted properly on r glide.
I feel more confident on the r glide, and that was from the first couple of miles. I can't quite nail why exactly, just it feels more 'planted' somehow.
More heat off the 110 for sure, while it is a quieter bike.
Wife loves her heated seat and backrest, plus lumbar support.
Tour pak has to be moved back, very little room for us at moment and wife is slim and 5 ft 7, so how Harley expect the larger pillion to fit is beyond me.
Lights in tour pak and saddle bags are great to have.
Love it though. A true original in every way and spectacular to look at. If you never drove it, it is a fine piece of art and makes you happy just looking at it!
Can't wait to get it to Europe next year for more Swiss mountain passes and French country roads.
