I really feel there would be a market for it with Harley customers.

It's good we have a choice huh.  If its a matter of $10 vs $15 maybe the US shirt......................but when they are all starting at $45 its a no win for the consumer.  I get your post and see the patriotic intent but not really realistic these days.

Timely thread ... just expressed as much to the local dealer principal. I will not buy an HD shirt, jacket etc unless it's made here in the US.

Case in point ... my wife and I just stopped at Fox Creek and purchased additional leather pieces to add to the collection. Great product and even better svc and made in the US.

So paying slightly more would be a non issue if Americans were manufacturing motor clothes for the iconic "American" motorcycle manufacturer. Sadly the consumer drives the business. Case in point ... get a lemon CVO at $30k+ ... buy another to fix the problem ... that'll show 'em.  :huepfenlol2:   :huepfenjump3:  Just my .02

I'm guessing the MOCO could care less .... sad but true!!

Unfortunately, you won't get the choice in the real world since Harley has firmly embraced the idea of increasing profits by purchasing their stuff from China at rock bottom prices but still selling it at top dollar in this country.  Same approach that's being used across our economy by greedy folks looking to double or triple profits the easy way.  Can't imagine why so many people find it impossible to get a job these days.

I remember going to buy an American flag replacement for my TP mount at a local dealership a few years back, and as I was preparing to pay for it I noticed it was made in China.  After pointing out that bit of idiocy to the counter person, I put the flag back on the display and left.  Maybe someone at Harley finally figured out how stupid that was, because I bought a replacement flag this past spring from a dealership and it actually states Made in USA on the package.  Same price as the cheap POS from China was a few years back too.

How about the American manufacturers figure a way to get the difference closer to 10%. Might be a no-brainer then. The Japanese did it in the 60s and 70s. We called it "dumping". Problem is, it worked. Maybe we could dump on ourselves ???

This topic is near and dear to my heart.  Since I work in manufacturing and compete with similar businesses around the globe, I feel strongly about this.  My facility is unionized and we have good wages and benefits.  We have had other divisions in Mexico and China close their doors due to poor performance.  A division in another low-cost country ain't doing that great either.  I jump for joy whenever they close a foreign division down.  We do very well here for one reason: the dedicated and skilled workforce.  We can compete here and even make good profits in a time when our government sees business as evil.  Just imagine what we could do if the politicians and lawyers were outta our way.  Keith Wandell makes his millions whether H-D is made here or anyplace else.  Why should he care?  As long as there are suckers willing to buy $45 Chinese T-shirts the suits line their pockets with cash... just not mine.

When feasable, I try to buy locally produced goods. Next...Since I'm Canadian...I try to "Buy Canadian".....then, "Made in the USA", to support my Brothers to the south.........beyond that, I'd rather buy items made in Mexico or South America than China or Malaysia...

I always look at the tag on the shirts before I buy them, if it's not USA too bad for HD!
Now I wish the leather jackets, shoes, and part came from the USA!  Of coarse I don't
buy many of them, just for that reason. My dress shoes are Allen Edmond's, sneakers are New Balance
(Made in USA) with American content. Jeans & shirts are a real bitch!

... American flag ... made in China.

Yesterday I had to laugh (as I was looking for a set of winter wheels to run on my American brand, German engineered, now French owned, Canadian assembled Chrysler 300C SRT8 with its Mexican built HEMI) when I saw that American Racing wheels are made in China.

hmmm, what do you expect european members to answer?

Over here H-D sells some shirts and jackets from a Greece manufacturer - and that's about the worst quality stuff of the whole inventory.

Buying overpriced or lower quality stuff for any nationalist reason is about the most stupid thing I can think of. It only spoils companies that should either change their attitude or go down as soon as possible to be replaced by fitter competitors  ::)
