Hi Guys,

Still looking to replace my wrecked bike.  My wife is even more adamant about me not replacing it though as time goes by.

Found an 07 SEUC with no mods, everything same as day one, very low miles.  The guy says he bought it as an "investment" and never rode it.  Not a biker.

If it is indeed an untouched off the floor bike, should I steer clear?  What will I have to deal with?  What price would be appropropriate if condition is perfect as advertised?  Priced too high right now at 28.  I understand it will need intake/exhaust mods and a tuner to control/lower heat.

The following is a result from a search on the subject:
"bulletins #M1225A (Product Program 905) and #M1226 (Product Program 906), which in essence provide these upgraded parts (and in some cases a lot more) for older CVO/SE factory-built 110s. These upgrades are free, but not forever. There’s a two-year time limit from the date these programs were established—call it August of 2010 give or take—so the clock is ticking! Mind you, there’s absolutely no safety issue here, so this is not a recall, and it applies to owners of 2007 and early 2008 model motorcycles equipped with “Registered P&A” or “Custom Coverage” (dealer installed and warranted) street-legal Screamin’ Eagle 110 c.i. engine kit numbers including: 29844-07, 29845-07, 29866-07A, 29909-07, 29910-07, 29912-07, 27800-08, 27801-08, 278802-08, 27803-08, 27804-08, 29844-08, 29912-08.
It's a long way off from me too, so I would have to have an intermediary check it out and be there when whoever ships it picks it up."

If it's not a safety issue as stated why should I do it?

So I assume not all 07 110's had this problem?  Any other concerns?

Also what is the best way to find an intermediary you can trust all the way across the country?

Thanks for the help.

I guess I answered my own question here folks.

From hdtalking:
"I have an 07 and do not recommend anyone buy one. you can spend days reading all the horror stories...many of which I also had...scissoring cranks...heat issues....primay bearing problems...crank band grind at startup...metal chips in primary almost SOP. 07's were an experiment and failed. Much was improved in 08's, 09's and later. IDS, heat management, better frame, advanced compensator, etc, etc, etc. 08 would be good, 09 would be better."

Also have seen posts about the value after a couple more years plummeting.  Everyone seems to agree to stay away from the 07 and if I do go for it don't pay more than 18 or so.  "20k is new bike money" or "20k is too close to new bike money" seems to be a popular sentiment.

The guy is asking 28 for chrissakes, way too much.

I have learned so much here already.  Way glad I joined.

Not all 07's had issues. Certainly here, you're going to hear about them because these guys a passionate about their bikes, almost to the point of fanatical. (Nothing wrong with that, either.)   I can't say mine has anymore heat output than the 07 96 stock Ultra I rode for 2 weeks on a fly n ride. Yep, it's had the head gaskets leak several times and now the radio is cutting out (circuit board cracks that Iron Cross will eventually get to fix right). But, it's also never not gotten me home. Maybe it needs more miles, but I need less work and more time to ride it!  I'd say it's got issues, but so does every other Harley out there. "What the hell did you expect for 35 large, perfection???" :)

I did the 110" kit on my 07:

Mine went through 5 (yes 5) 110" motors! First the seeping base and head gaskets, then liners, then 3 oil pumps from excessive pinion shaft runout. Some were repaired some were complete replacements.

You be the judge... 17,500 miles

I rode with my group of friends and their 95" & 103" motors/kits held up fine.

Mine is arriving at 24500 miles and the only "serious" problem was with the main switch witch is common to all the flht.
But I did the Fullsac stage 1 and put the HD mid frame air deflector for the heat problems.

I wouldn't do it.  You hear alll the horror stories,   why in the world wouldn't you look at something newer?  there are a zillion bikes for sale..They have made improvements over the years, you should take advantage of that and still there are headaches.  I just don't get it..   And asking WAY too much sir. :o

Clearly not a biker, or a terribly bright individual in general, if he thought buying a new motorcycle was an "investment".  It's one thing to tell your wife that, so you can get one to ride, but quite another to actually believe it to be true. ;D

I experienced the rear cylinder leaking head gasket on my '07.  I fixed it myself, and never had another issue or problem.

I think each year bike has it's own issues.  Like the TBW issues on some of the newer bikes, for example.  There are still occasional crank runout issues.  There are still extremely noisy bikes, whether it be piston slap, lifters or top end issues...

It's unfortunate the MOCO can't release new bikes that don't require owner/dealer intervention just to be able to ride with confidence....  But I guess if you desire to ride a Harley, for now anyway, it's part of the deal...whatever year bike you purchase.     :nixweiss:

Buy an 09 and up with low miles and extended warranty if available. This way you get the new frame, ABS and more reliable bike. Had an 07. Went through i motor ,2 sets of heads. j my 2cents.

I have a 2007 SERK and my buddy has a 2007 SEUC.  We have made 2 trips from SC to Sturgis together.  I have done 2 BB 1500 Iron butts on mine. We just did 2 days Atlanta to Sturgis with no problems. I have over 25k mikes and he 21k.  Neither has ever had a major issue.
