2012 cvo streetglide - top have to have mods?
« on: September 01, 2011, 02:40:17 PM »

I just took delivery of my citrus/gunstock street glide Saturday.  What are top mods and / or add ons that you plan to do to yours?

Mine are:

Double d's and tuner - wife corrected me, D&D's  :pepper:
detachable tour pack
floor boards and move rear pegs to highway pegs

Count me in on the D&D and tuner as #1. Then highway pegs and tour pak. Already have the new black LED headlight which looks great.

CONGRATS! I just got my Hot Citrus CVO SG last Friday!

Here's my list:

Color-matched King Tour Pak and spoiler, 4-point docking mounts, detachable rack, rack locks, key-matched lock, molded liner, carry-out liner bag, lid organizer, smoked sidelights
MUCH more comfortable 2011 standard SG seat with rider backrest (keeping the stock one though... sorry guys!)
Streamliner Passenger Footboard Kit and H-D Rumble inserts to match the rider ones.
Moved the passenger pegs up to the engine guard with H-D Short mounts
Paul Yaffe curved license plate frame
Long Rider 7" windshield with the recurve - REALLY cuts the wind and lifting of my helmet by the stocker
H-D Internal Fairing Antenna

Now the really IMPORTANT stuff going in next weekend...

Fullsac X-Pipe and their 2" baffles in the stock cans to retain "stock" look
Andrews 54 cams (near-perfect cams for this engine), Torrington B-168 cam bearings (stock ones are junk)
Black Ops Lifters to quiet down the engine noise
TTS MasterTune module

MOST important... Tuned by a friend who really knows what he's doing!

I agree with the seat.  I need to add that to my list about the same time as the tour pack.  I was shocked to see that there was no option for a driver backrest. oh well, it looks cool.

The stock seat is awesome-looking, but it doesn't work for me at all. It's hard without much padding, and I am too short (5' 9") to reach the bars comfortably because I sit so far back on the thing. I have to lean forward too much, and that's not the way I like to ride. It's not comfortable like that. With my back, I HAVE to have a rider backrest, and like you said, there's no option for one with the stock seat. That was stupid on the MoCo's part. So off it comes, and a more supportive one with a backrest goes on. I think the stock '11 SG/RG seat will work OK, and it will match the plain rider backrest and the plain TP backrest I'm getting. If I don't like the new seat, I'll just sell it and go get a Mustang, or maybe a C&C. I have a Mustang Regal 2-up seat with a rider backrest on the E-Glide, and I can sit in that thing comfortably all day long. It looks good, too...

I may have to add pull-back bars to my list, too. I like the grips to be right where my hands naturally fall, but on this bike, with the stock seat, that's not where they are at all. The grips are a good 2" inches further forward than I want them to be. I'm going to try to adjust the bars down some from where they are now, and see how that works. BUt that's PITA because i have to get into the inner faring to do that. The new seat will hopefully move me a little further forward as well - so maybe that will fix the problem.

That a neat job of the GPS mount moulded into the dash, did you have it done?

Yeah, I purchased a new inner fairing without mirror holes, then had the GPS mount moulded in and then all painted to match. I love the way it turned out!!

That is the best GPS mount I have seen yet.  :2vrolijk_21:  Guessing the new inner fairing, modification for the mount, and the painting, was not cheap though.  Do you have a total cost for it?

That GPS mount is friggin' killer! Very cool... and very well done.

Number one mod however you chose to do it.  Get rid of the cat and then get a tuner.

Thanks for the compliments on the GPS mount, here are some finished pictures. It is actually a HD GPS mount that I had molded it. I used a painter from the site, but wouldn't reccomend. The best part was the price, I purchased the fairing from him, including molding in the GPS mount, filling the clutch "cable" hole (line now runs down next to the bars like the brake line), all for about $500 and I still have my stock fairing.
