Variable heated jacket controller (NON-HD!)
« on: September 01, 2011, 07:37:49 PM »

I tried out my new heated jacket for the first time last eve.....the on/off switch sucks!! It really needs a variable control...HD makes one for $48us (20% off), but I don't want to give them more money to make their product work as it should ( I'm thinking there is a theme developing here!), so, I look and find this product...and it can be 'dash mounted'...

Single Mounted Heat-troller Coax is the one I'm interested in.

Looks like a good idea...anyone try/ have one of these.

Get the wireless dual controller. You'll grow into it and be glad you made the investment. Got one last year and very pleased I did.

I stuck one on my machine and use it all the time. I really like being able to quickly tweak the heat up or down as needed. The wireless controller would be much less of a PITA, but you would have to remember where you put it. My memory is still pretty damn good, but it’s really short.  ;D

It appears that the controller goes in the heated jacket's pocket....not so convenient for on-the-go adjustments?

Look again, the receiver goes in the jacket pocket. The controller is bluetooth wireless and can go anywhere within a few feet of the receiver. On your dash, tank bag, wrist, wherever. I have one, they are very slick.

Haven't replaced one yet. Probably have 40 hours of active use.

That wireless unit is SLICK! It sure beats the tangle of cords I deal with.  So while the liner still plugs into the battery, there is no wire from the harness to the controler. I like that. I may hold out to see if it comes to the bike show it LA at a discount price.

Are you using this wireless controller with Gerbing heated gear?  Any issues with it thus far?

JC, yes I am. I have the Gerbing Microwire G3 gloves and the Gerbing heated jacket liner. No problems at all.

Thank you.....looks like something we're going to have to get.

I called Gerbing today and asked them if they have any plans of a wireless controller.  Surprisingly, they told me it hasn't been a consideration.  When I asked about other brands of wireless controllers working with their products he told me he wasn't aware of a wireless controller for heated gear. :nixweiss:    Now that was the person who answered the phone and not necessarily somebody from the Gerbing family.

I glad to have held out and not gotten a controller yet...usually the one I really want comes out almost immediately after the one I settled on is considered used.
