iPod Docking Cable
« on: September 02, 2011, 12:18:58 PM »

I am having trouble with the iPod connector from the iPod interface falling out of my iPod and iPhone.  It won't stay lached.  My other charging adapters latch up just fine.

Just curious if anyone else is haveing an issue.  Having to secure it with tape would be a bummer.

Same problem here. Should snap onto both sides of the iPod slot, but it doesn't very well. But even worse... my iPod has stopped working entirely! It doesn't even show up in the radio menu now. Neither does my iPhone. The cable to the saddlebag is tight, and I unsnapped it and resnapped it, and heard both clicks. This happened before I disconnected it, though.  There's another connection in the fairing, apparently... but I'm not going in there yet. Pisses me off it stopped working after only 4 days. I hate having to into the dealer for crap like this...

NorthGeorgiaHawg, pull the headlight and you should be able to reach the connection behind the radio... IT is a pretty crappy connection. Only problems I have had is it always starts on the same song, sometimes there is no audio and the volume goes up and down (not the AVC).

Hey, thanks, man! I'll do that. This whole iPod interface appears to have been rather shoddily engineered... I haven't figured out how to go to a different album, and then be able to go through the songs in that album one by one with the hand controls. It always goes to the next album, or something random...

OK - I pulled the headlight, and I see two giant connectors on the back of the radio. The are both solidly attached. If the iPod connector is something else - can someone please tell me what it looks like? I don't see any connectors that are loose inside the fairing. Thanks.

To the lower right of the radio. If memory serves it's an 8 pin. I would check the connections at the saddle bag. Way more likely to have an issue there. The exterior saddle bag connection and the one at the module in the lid. I've seen people with broken wires in the barrel connection already.

I've checked everything I can find - unplugged and replugged every cable connection in the saddlebag, to the saddlebag, and everything I can find inside the fairing. Thanks for your help but screw this... I'm taking it to the dealer and let THEM fix whatever is wrong. I've spent two hours and haven't gotten anywhere on this...

I HAVE MY iPod BACK! I took off the outer fairing to install a hidden antenna, and lo and behold... that connector you were telling me about had come completely undone! The two parts were just hanging there 6 inches apart. I connected them back together and heard the click... and the iPod is back!  :2vrolijk_21:

I guess that connector must have been put together late in the day by a line worker in a hurry to get to the bar or something...

Damn, the audio system on this thing is AWESOME...  :orange:  :pepper: :orange:  :pepper: :orange:
