WTF, they don't crate the motors? What the heck are they thinking??   ???

The same as always....$$$$$....boxes are cheaper than crates.

However, in this case, it would seem the carrier should receive a substantial amount of the credit for the disaster...   :2vrolijk_21:

This kind of neglect on behalf of both the shipper and shipping company is inexcusable.  I supect you accepted it in hopes to find it unscathed.  Good luck and hopfully you'll have a reasonable and quick resolution.  That's quite a nice looking engine.

You are a shipper I am sure you know the drill. UPS will say "insufficient packing" too low of strength used box. Been there done that. When I send heads to Europe I truss them with wood top and bottom plates. No issues after going to that extreme.

Don't try that wood thing going to Australia. They don't like wood and critters that may be on it coming into their country.  I just found this out recently.

In this case UPS would be right though.  It really is insufficient packaging.  The only saving grace might be if the package were shipped insured.  UPS makes most shippers get a signed receipt for boxes insured over $4k (think that's the right amount).  So when the package is picked up or dropped off a UPS person has to sign off saying they accept the box and packaging.

would be interesting to check the motor ID # against the motor ID # ordered.. I cant believe Harley shipped the motor this way.. OR.. did you order the motor off Ebay  :'( ?? In any case, hope your shipping it back to the sender just as you got it...   Personally, i never would of accepted delivery with shipping container with my 5K motor in that shape,, no way nada..

I hope you guys that plan on ordering these motors from Harley start complaining, demanding better packaging before exchanging credit card numbers..    :o

That is horrible. It looks as if the rear cylinder head says Screamin Eagle and they used the screw on plate like on the 110's on the front head. Whats up with that. Does the front say 120R?

It is a claim with the shipper (HD Dealer), UPS would be out of this one, I suspect they would make it right if they are a stand-up CO.

I also received mine today - in a cardboard box via UPS Freight. Somebody apparently had hit the box with a forklift but luckily the engine was intact. From the factory via a reputable dealer.

Optimally:
SE engine compensator, Automatic Compression Release harnesss,
New intake, eg. 58mm SE throttle body, high flow injectors, air filter & backing plate or HPI 55mm
Your choice of Large Exhaust, eg D&D XXXzilla or Wegner X
New high-pressure clutch, eg Bandit Sportsman or AIM VP
your choice of EFI tuning module (TTS or SEPST)
Proper break-in and dyno tuning

Did I miss something?
