120R, question for those who have one.
« on: September 06, 2011, 03:41:00 PM »

We just received our 120R Crate (box) motor. The parts list in the catalog mentions SE high TQ compensator. I did not receive a compensator with my engine.
Did any of you 120R owners get a new SE comp with yours?

Steve

PS- The cardboard box didn't quite get the job done.

My understanding is the compensator is no longer included.

I was in shock. 5K motor in a box. Yep, that's oil. Damage? Oh ya, bent fins, pushrod and tube. Amazed it wasn't worse.

Original labels on the box or did it look like it might have been repackaged on the way due to shipper damage to an original crate?

That's just scary bad.

No idea if there ever was a crate. Very well known experienced shipper. I still can't believe anyone could have thought a 140lb engine would survive UPS in a cardboard box.

Icing on the cake.

Mine was shipped in a box without a crate also.  Styrofoam top and bottom only.

In addition to no compensator, there are some internal differences with the current 120r motor's also.  It now comes with the SE camplate and the high flow oil pump...

Dang that is just wrong, looks like it was put in without
the foam packaging, and why is there oil in the box,
the oil ports should have been plugged from the manuf
with the intake and exhaust ports plugged.

My SNS 124 originally was sent in a wood crate
however SNS changed over to triple sided cardboard box (very strong)
with custom foam molded inserts to protect the engine

If there wasn't any foam in there I'd be pitching
a major beeatch at the seller....

That's how mine was packaged.  It was either double or triple sided cardboard side walls, and formed molded styrofoam top and bottom.  Fortunately, I live close enough to the source that I drove over and picked mine up...didn't have to rely on a shipper to not destroy it.

Bad news, that sucks!
FWIW cardboard can be used but to handle that weight but it really needs to be 1200# mullen triple wall and then the motor foamed in place full top bottom and sides.

I'm curious, Steve as smart as you are WHY did you even accept the carton in the first place?

If I saw that box like that I would have rejected the shipment on the spot!!

I mean how do you know whether they were playing football withit or not? The cases could be damaged (hairline cracks)--etc.

Scary stuff.
