Place to stay in Glacier Park
« on: September 06, 2011, 08:55:45 PM »

Guys,

I need some help.
I will be having an extended vacation next summer,  I am going to Glacier, Yellowstone, and Redwood parks.
I am looking for some info on places to stay.
Instead of checking the internet sites, I thought you guys would have better input.
I will be staying a few days at each place.
The wife and I like privacy and want nice rooms.
Thanks to all for input.

Hi Dave, We will be in Glacier Park next summer after the West Coast GTG in Spokane and will be looking for a place too. I can recommend Miranda Gardens for a stopover in the Redwoods. Miranda is a small town right on the Avenue of the Giants with food, and supplies accross the street from the motel.      http://www.mirandagardens.com/area.html      Lou

I am looking to book in the next month or so.
That's why I'm looking for the input now.

Will be going the last 2 weeks of July and first week of August.

Thanks for the input so far, although I felt there would be alot more since most of the guys on travel quit a bit.

If you want to go "four star" in the Redwoods with elegant accommodations and cuisine, you can't beat the Benbow.

We stayed in Whitefish MT. to get to Glacier Park ( not in the park) . I thought it was nice, but others thought it was overpriced and the rooms were just OK .

We have stayed in Apgar Village in Glacier twice, once in the motel (right on the lake and I mean right on the lake!) and once in the cabins which are right on the creek. Both are rustic, no T.V. or internet but incredible views! Prices 3 years ago where very reasonable. Didn't have reservation either time, just road in :2vrolijk_21:

If you are looking for nice rooms Grouse MT Lodge in Whitefish is a nice hotel as Marty said.  :2vrolijk_21:
Food and drinks are all right there.  :drink:

Here is a link to all of the hotels that the park owns and the locations.

I'm taking Roosters advice and booked early along Going to the Sun Road which is the must ride for Glacier. Its a little place called Rising Sun Store Motel and modestly priced for the area. Here is a map  http://www.amwest-travel.com/awt_glacier_going-to-the-sun.html

...and the motel   http://glacierparkinc.com/rising_sun_motor_inn.php

Good idea Lou, I remember Karen trying to make reservations several months early and even $700 rooms were already gone. :'(

Wow, I knew it was a popular place, but didn't know you had to make reservations a full year in advance.
Glad I put this out there for you guys n gals to help me along the way.
Will prob be making reservations next week, once I verify my vacation days.

Thanks again for all your input.

Last year we stayed here  http://www.glacierparkinc.com/glacier_park_lodge.php not cheap but if you want to experience the history it is great. We also stayed on the Canadian side here http://www.glacierparkinc.com/prince_of_wales.php
We enjoyed both Lodges.

In Yellowstone we stayed at Mommoth Hot Springs Cabins. Here too the cabins have have no T.V. or internet. We were there in Spring the wildlife was amazing! Once again, no reservation, but thats the way we roll :2vrolijk_21:
