HP & Torque
« on: September 07, 2011, 04:54:40 AM »

Wanted to share the following with you: I am here at the bikeweek on the FaakerSee in Austria. Very nice event !  :orange:
A Finnish company has built up a dyna-teststand which I visited yesterday with my bike: E-Glide UC CVO, 2009 (ruby red), SERT, V&H X-pipe, KessTech pipes.
The following was measured on the backwheel (all metric numbers !): 91,4 HP @ 4430 rpm, 169,5 Nm @ 2843 rpm.
They calculated for the motor: 105 HP and 194 Nm (is that possible ??)
They said that this are very good numbers. On the printout I got ´DYNOMEC Dynamometer Software´ is mentioned.
As this is the first time I did such a measurement I am not sure about how reasonable and good this really is.
Any comments ?
Thank you very much !

I had my bike dynoed this summer. 89.52 HP amd 108.25 TQ. ( V & H Dresser Duals with Hi-Outputs)

Yours sounds about right compared to mine.

If my conversions are correct that would be at the rear wheel 80 lb-ft needed to produce 91.4 hp @ 4430 rpm, and the torque peak is 125 lb-ft @ 2843 rpm.  "At the engine" it needs to make 90 lb-ft to produce 105 hp @ 4430 rpm, and the torque peak is 141 lb-ft @ 2843 rpm.  Those seem a little high for an essentially stock engine.

The torque numbers are excessively high for the very slight modifications listed.  Multiply the Nm figures by 0.73756 to convert to ft-lbs, and you'll find they are claiming 125 ft-lb at the rear wheel and 143 ft-lb at the crank.  Rear wheel torque is probably closer to 110 ft-lb (149 Nm).
