BLUU Loud Clacking Sound
« on: September 08, 2011, 11:00:04 AM »

On my 2010 SEUC it just developed this loud Clacking sound when the bike is in neutral and I am sitting still and turn the handle bars to the left. I don't believe it is the motor but I need to have some feedback on this issue. Thanks DB  This is the only time it does it!! and it is loud!!

Mine used to have a loud tapping sound in the front of the primary but went away after installing the SE Comp Assembly.

It just started doing this after last weekend when I had the wife riding with me and we arn't 2 feathers riding two up. I noticed it when I was backing BLUU in to a parking spot and I cranked the handle bars to the left and boy did it CLACK,CLACK,CLACK. This morning riding to work I did the same thing to see if it still made that Clacking noise and yes it is loud and only CLACKs when you crank the handle bars to the left sitting still in idle.

I'd look for a broke mount...a semi-busted comp sproket will clatter handlebar postion not affecting..I may have busted mine already...need the new -8A part...basisiges...

I think the Compensator is bad or needs to be tightened.

I hope it turns out to be something minor like stated above as you haven't had any luck.     :-\

Yea that would be the straw that broke the camels back!! I couldn't handle another motor change and I might have to give up my love for the CVO 110.

Im just guessing that handlebars do not have much to do with comp sprocket clacking noises...My bad comp sounded like hell all the time...

I'm thinking it must be a motor mount but who knows. I will have to put it in the black hole and just be patient. :beatdeadhorse:

IF this occurs while you are sitting on the bike and holding it level, I'm not understanding how turning the bars fully to the left would cause a motor mount to start clacking.  It also wouldn't affect the compensator.

When in doubt, look for the easiest and most obvious things first.  See if anything, like a clutch or brake line, is grounding out on something else when you turn the bars full left.  This could be something as simple as something grounding on the crash bar or other part and picking up the vibrations from the idling engine.

Jerry I agree with you but I can't see anything obvious when I turn the bars fully to the left. I think being that it is lunch time here I'm going out front here at work and see if I can figure this out. Standby.

I have no business talking,

I would leave it on the kickstand, handlebars to the left and start the bike. start probing around.  Being off the bike you may be able to identify where the sound is coming from.

 Sorry to interrupt

X2...it's bound to be something like that, rather than a mount or anything in the primary.  One other possibility...a fairing bracket might be broken.

Well I just came up with 2 things that are wrong. One is the exaust crossover underneath that is loose and causing a rattle and the second thing is down just outboard of the oil filter on the frame is a screw hole that is missing something that mounts there but for the life of me I don't know what mounts there. Is it a engine mount?? The Screwhole threads show a slight amount of oil in them from the oil filter being changed and something mounts there????
