Glad you found it.  Definitely not the mothership's problem this time but an issue with the dealer install of the V Twin.

Well here is the total scoop. It was a combination of the left lower hardware coming loose and the clamp on the crossover exaust being worn out and coming loose that was causing all the racket. Its amazing how noise travels and sounds!!! We are good to go for another 1000 miles or so. :2vrolijk_21:

Great news, but what was the threaded hole that was missing a bolt, nothing??? :nixweiss:

The threaded hole that is just outboard of the oil filter on the L/H side has a harness routed by it and it is attached to the threaded boss with a large tie wrap. The tie wrap had broke and I had never noticed the threaded boss exposed like that and being that I was hearing this God Aweful Clacking I assumed something was missing from that threaded boss. I think I'm a little gun shy of motor issues and the black hole at the dealer and the mind plays tricks on you!!
