What is "service mode"
« on: September 10, 2011, 03:40:09 PM »

Hi to all.. Hope everyone is having a good riding season. On page 126 of my 09 owner's manual under the heading of SERVICE DEPARTMENTS it sayes when you leave your motorcycle at a HD dealer for service you can  1. Leave the fob with them ( I have no problem with that) or if for some reason you want to keep the fob in your posession ask the dealer to disable the module for service (service mode) before leaving dealer ship. Just wondering  what that was and how they would do it Thanks in Advance CAHDBIKER

it dissables the alarm so the bike can be serviced/repaired with out the alarm flashing lights, howking horns or clowns doing cartwheel in the shop. please just leave the fob. thanks

I don't know exactly but I think it has something to do with them turning on the switch and other things. I asked my local stealer to do that on mine but he acted like he really didn't want too (I don't think he knew how). So I left the FOB but told him I would not be happy if they lost it. All worked out ok.

Just leave it in the saddlebag.

Isn't service mode when they hit the FOB with a hammer?

Service mode per the manual is done by the dealer.... disabling the security module

There is also a transport mode.... for trailering or other trnasport modes (Or leave the FOB with the bike)
