Which Progressive Monotube for 09 SERG?
« on: September 17, 2011, 10:41:03 PM »

I ordered Progressive 940 shocks for the rear and I want to replace the front springs with Progressive Monotubes.  I think I've read on here that the stock 09 SERG has stock height front end and not lowered 1" like rear.  Is that correct?  Should I replace the front with stock height Monotubes or is there an adavantage to the 1" lowered  monotubes in it?  My 03 SERK is lowered front and back and seems fine to me, but was wondering about the SERG.
Any suggestions are certainly appreciated.

I installed the Progressive Monotube last month.  Should have been one of my first mods.  Got them from Jim at Metal Drogon for a good price.  The SERG front end is stock height.  I would not recommend lowering the front end.

Correct.  Back in March or April I was asking the same.  Progressive kept telling me it was stock hight.  HD shows a differnent part number for the SERG front than the regular Road glide.  Found out eventually from harley it was the type of cartridge used and they were both the same height.  HD did confirm the front on and SERG is not lower.

I did the 940's at Bike week Daytona this year, and the Mono tubes late march or early April.  I have 12K on the set up now.  Love it, and it should have been done much earlier.

My next bike it will be done with in a the first couple months.

Is it correct that you can do the Progeressives monotube with completely dis-assembling the tubes and disturbing the fork seals? Is it just unbolting the setup from the bottom of the slider and everything comes out of the top?

I believe you are correct, but you better ask progressive.  I had the dealer do mine.  It do not believe they took my forks apart.

Yes, but since you will have the forks off anyway why not just do the recommended full disassembly and cleaning, then replace the seals and bushings?  They recommend you do the full disassembly, but like many things you can short cut it if you want.

I see your point....but I am just wondering if I need to since the bike only has 4000 miles.
