Power Commander Map
« on: June 13, 2006, 11:31:41 PM »

Does anyone have a good map for a Power Commander for their CUSE?  I installed the Freedom Cycle pipes, SE Air Kit and Power Commander.  The pipes are just too loud.  I'd like to keep the air kit and PC with some quieter pipes?

Not an option.  At least, not for me.

Interestingly, I loaded the Freedom map with the SE air kit, the PC3 and the Rineharts.  Does not seem to be even CLOSE to good.... :-(  Trying to get the bike on a Dyno locally, but they are all full for the next while...

Did you adjust the closed throttle position on the PCIII? I have seen these be off by as much as 9%. What that means is the PCIII thinks your throttle is open by that percentage which will through the entire map off.

Good info...before I had my tune done, a very helpful member of this site provided me with the Freedom map.  After a while, it was causing the bike to stall.  Idle would drop to 800revs or less ... ZERO!

The tuning was done and it runs great.

Wish I knew this trick before...was embarrassed to bring a stalling bike to the tuner.

Ah!  I'm new to this - how do you do that, HD-Dude?

The bike does nothing below around 3500rpm, when it really starts to go. Below that, open the throttle and it just makes more noise.  No low end torque, either - my friends CSE² is great from 1500 rpm on, my CUSE doesn't like being below 2000 rpm at all...

Well, I learned how to do that, and did it.  And it was a long way off.  It's better, less popping on overrun for example, but still lacks low end torque, and mid range..... anything!  Open the throttle at 3000rpm, it makes more noise, but doesn't do much. Get to around 3500rpm though, and it suddenly goes.

I tried another map too, but not significantly better, so I guess there really is no substitute for sticking it on a dyno.

My comparison for this by the way, is an 05 FLHTCSE2 that my firend has. SE Pipes, air cleaner, MoCo St1 download. Pulls like a train from 1500rpm, and just keeps going right through the rev range. Any of you guys who have had both an 05 and a CUSE find the CUSE significantly different as I describe?  (Due to the larger throttle body maybe???)

I'm using the accelerator pump feature on my PC3 too - maybe I should try without...

Jim;
Sorry fot not getting back to this thread to answer your how-to question. I would not use the accelerator pump feature. You could be dumping too much fuel when you grap a handful. That would explain the sluggish response you are experiencing.

No worries HD Dude - it's good for me to go off and discover how to do these things myself anyway! :-)

Yes, I got to thinking about that possiblilty with the Accelerator Pump feature, and it might account for the nothing-at-3000rpm effect, but it sure wouldn't account for the way my bike is not happy at very low revs as opposed to my friends CSE2....   A dyno is essential I think.
