Just to add to the misery. Needle bearing on lifter crapped and scored cam. Replaced with Woods lifters and 555 cams. Good consistent torque but lost horsepower. After a week, tapping noise got real bad and had it checked. Blown head gasket. Now making some upgrades to hopefully prevent future crap outs.

Was that the original head gasket that blew?

Went for a ride yesterday and the NORMAL ticking turned into a clatter.Sounds like its coming from the whole right side and top end. Not just the tick, tick but an added clatter. Dont know what to do.I was ready to replace  the heart with a feuling cam chest kit,but I am afraid that the problem may be more extensive. Any ideas.

Did you check your OIL PRESSURE before you shut it down?  :nixweiss:

I heard this on (4) 110" motors that failed due to excessive pinionshaft runout that caused catastrophic failure of the oil pump. The added noise was no oil in the heads or lifters.

When a crank slips on the pin, they generally take the pump out, if run for very long.

Oil pressure is around 10 psi at idle and 36+ at 2000 rmp. seems to be at 2000 rpm and up that it makes the most noise.

Thats great news!

Several members have suggested several items, but you need to open it up to find out.
Most of the suggestions are leading to valvetrain: bent pushrods/mis adjusted pushrods OR collapsed lifters; something causing incorrect gaps in the rockers and pushrods or lifters and pushrods or both.

There has been talk on the board about piston slap around that RPM.

Get out the tools and let us know  :2vrolijk_21:

Please post a follow up so we know who guessed right .

My first 110 did the same thing.  Outer cam shaft bearing went.

I am hoping yours ends up like mine.
My problem ended up being small and now I am in love with my bike all over again.
It runs better now than ever.
My fingers are crossed you find the quick and easy solution. :2vrolijk_21:
