Just an update to let you guys know what I'm doing to ship my bike...
I decided to use Federal Transport, in part because I got a pretty good deal on shipping cost with my AMA discount, and also because the speed at which they ship. It was loaded on a truck in New Braunfels, TX on 5/1 and expected delivery in Spokane, WA is 5/16-17. Others were saying 2-3 months! Got 100% insurance coverage with zero deductible. Arranged to have it picked up at a Harley dealership and will be delivered to my local one as well (convenient since a semi-truck can't come up my cul-de-sac and I'll be away on a business trip as well). Total bill: $673.00
I had
two shippers say they wouldn't deliver to me in the Pacific Northwest (due to high fuel prices). I did not even consider UShip because that outfit is featured on the Discovery Channel's "Shipping Wars" reality series (check out the credits at the end). If you've ever watched that show, you wouldn't want those yahoos getting anywhere near your HD machine!! Evidently that company puts shipping contracts out for bid to any *%%# with a truck and a trailer...
Now we shall see if it gets delivered unscathed.
