2012 IPOD???
« on: October 04, 2011, 02:40:39 PM »

The Ipod on my '12 Skunk won't start playing where it left off if the bike sits for more than an hour or so. The other Ipods I have will allow you to set them to start where they were when they were turned off, but I can't find an option that will turn this feature on or off. HELP!!!!

I'm not totally sure, but I'm guessing that what is happening is the iPod is continuing to play while the bike is shutdown, and simply gets to the end of the play list and when you come back, you see the beginning of the play list again.

While mine isn't integrated like the '12's, I have mine tied with the Iron Cross rear auxillary, and if I don't manually hit the pause button on the ipod, it does the same thing.

I suggest you turn the bike off. Wait a couple of minutes, then look at the ipod and see if it's still playing. If it is, I would see if these is a head unit pause function, and try that.

I hope this helps at least shed a little light?

I wish that was the problem. I've got 33 hours of music on it, so there's no way it's getting thru all of the songs. It's just starting over from the beginning once it sits for a few hours. If I get back on the bike with a short delay, less than a couple hours, it starts right where it left off.

Strange. I have 3,400 songs on my 16GB nano, and even my longest play list is only like 50 songs. Once you drill down to a playlist, or artist or album, it will only play what's in the directory and stop. The only way to get all 33 hours is to hit music from the main page to play all. Once in the directories, you can only play what's in them.

I'm not playing a "play list". I'm playing all the songs. The Ipod just won't start up where it was left when I turned the bike off. For example....it's playing the 325th song in my Ipod when I shut the bike off. I have a few beverages and come back out to the bike and start it up. It is no longer playing the 325th song, it's playing the first song.

I think everyone who has one of the OEM linked Ipods has experienced this.  At this point I haven't heard of anyone finding a solution.  I assume its an issue with the link/control unit because I have used both the Ipod nano that came with the bike and my own Ipod touch and both do the same thing.  If its a quick stop like a fill up, the ipod resumes where it was.  If the stop lasts much longer than that it goes back to the first song.  I leave mine in shuffle, so everytime I start off on the bike, it starts with the first song in alphabetical order.

If you find a solution please let us know.

Maybe your Ipod password protected.  Mine was resetting after I turned off the bike. I disabled that feature on the Ipod now its OK

don't know how to fix your problem but wanted to share!

Sounds like a stereo upgrade to me? I put the Sony Marine head in mine and it will continue where you leave off and charge my ipod. all controls still work and ipod controlled from the stereo. If you select a play list using the stereo it will drop down to the next playlist when it reaches the end of a play list. I found it will go to the first song of the A's if you select the playlist on the ipod before you connect it to the bike. Took me awhile to figure that out. It is a sweet setup. O then you need more speakers amps etc.....  :2vrolijk_21: get you check book out! LOL

My 2011 flhxse2 does that also. I always forget to do this , as someone on here suggested, but they sid hit the power button to the head unit before you turn the ignition off and then when you turn the bike on and hit the power to the head unit it will pick up where it left off. Mabey that was for the cd? It has been discussed. I am curious also

I haven't noticed this problem... but I'm still trying to figure out how all of iPod controls even operate! I love having the iPod, but shifting between albums, playlists, artists, songs, etc. can get very distracting on the road. I need to make better use of playlists, I think.

Does anyone know if the suggestion of hitting the power button on the radio before turning off the bike works to keep the iPod at the same spot?

Doesn't seem to make any difference on my bike.  I always turn the power off at the head unit before I power off the bike.  If I power off the bike first, I have a lot of trouble with the Ipod locking up.  If I power off the radio first, and its a short stop the ipod will pick up where it left off.  If the stop is more than 45 minutes to an hour, it will start back at song one.

:coolblue: I have not tried this yet, but according to the nano manual if powering off the nano by the on/off switch it will resume to where you left off. extract: If you turn off iPod nano while music or other audio is playing (pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button), iPod nano begins playing where you left off, when you turn iPod nano back on.

My understanding on the bike, power is connected to the nano permanently, (charging). therefore does not satisfy the condition above.
similar when you plug into your USB port.

I think you need to manually power off the nano to satisfy your requirement to resume playback.
bit of a pain.

Give it a go.  :P

+1. I have not found a solution to this... I have filed it in the F* it folder and just select the playlist when it happens.  I am not going to get frustrate it over this ;)

Funny thing, I forgot about turning off the option to shake the ipod for changing songs and everytime I would brake or accelerated hard the song would change.... Turned that option off right after that ride, lol
