One of the great things about this forum is that you don't have to be the guinea pig every time that you want to do something since other people here have most likely done it before.  This means that you can spend $s on the mods that get you the biggest bang for your bucks, and not spend $s on things that don't make much difference.

That being said, I see nothing wrong with you doing the mods that you want, but keep in mind that the lower end is the weak link as JC said.  If I was going to bump compression I would get the flywheels welded/pinned and balanced.  This will not only strengthen the bottom end but will make the engine run a lot smoother at speed.

In my opinion, looking at the numbers that you and the dealer are targeting, you can get similar numbers without all of the extra expense.  I would just do the cams, exhaust, tuner, and tune.

I have a stock 110 with V&H Power Duals, with the high output mufflers and a Master Tuner I am pushing 106hp with 124ftlbs of Torque at the rear wheel. For a lot less than it is going to cost you for the possibility of 4 more HP that you will never be able to tell you have in the seat of your pants.

Just to clarify, not claiming Skip has anything to do with Master Tuner as a company, just saying he is the best there is in tweeking Harleys. At least anywhere in my neck of the woods anyway!!!

Not casting dispersions on your tuner, but those numbers really are not possible on a stock 110 with just exhaust and tune, no matter who tunes it.  There are a bunch of folks here who have done the same exact mods, had it tuned by some of the best in the country, and their numbers are nowhere near those.  I'd say the Dyno was off by at least 10% in favor of reporting good numbers, or you've got one of 10,000 motors out there.  No disrespect intended, just keeping it real.

Terry,

you have that right,

I do not want to participate in another "dyno" war discussen

but those numbers would be highly suspect and at the very least "rare"

Along with those considerations, for many of us it's not our first rodeo.  For years I spent bucket loads of money for just a few more HP or a few more TQ numbers.  I also learned (school of hard knocks, over and over) that when you start bumping compression generally that's when you start having the seeps, weeps and leaks as well as long term reliability goes down hill real fast.

Well said.  Funny how most of us have all done it "at least once"  ;D

it is a manufacture defect, like a valve guide, lifter or valve spring.

Bingo!  We have a winner.  A loose valve guide caused me to lunch an entire engine, but was covered under warranty @ 42K miles.  I had installed a set of pipes and Race Tuner by H-D dealership and they stood behind me 100%.

For what it's worth, I also call bs on the 106 hp and 124 tq with the mods described.  But, hey, what do I know!

WOW, I am going to his tuner.
Anyone that can get me 30 plus ft pounds of torque and horsepower with a pipe, air filter and a tune is da man.
And you where being nice stating the Dyno must be off 10%, more like, well we all know that answer.
Not trying to pick either, but c,mooooooooon!

I was thinking the same thing so never the less I brought it up to my service dept earlier today, who will be doing all the mods and dyno.  He shook his head when he heard those numbers with so little mods.  He thinks the dyno used needs MAJOR RECALIBRATIONS if it fact those are the numbers being put out.

Latest update is it's going to cost me $2,800 OTD for the complete work, dus saving me $1,400, if I was to do it all from scratch on my dime.

The dealership will stand behind their work as I've seen and heard in the past.  No loaners available since they're all spoken for due to Biketoberfest.  We're hoping for a completion date by the end of next week.

Be sure to ask them what your crank run out is and to check it on both sides. Inquiring minds want to know.  :nixweiss:

In the mean time, with just cams (no head work), removing the cat, Fullsac baffles, SST dyno tuned, here's a link that shows my dyno sheet.  The reason that so many on this forum have followed suit (the combined mods, not because it's my bike :)0......    http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=44545.0

What was the final OTD cost to you after engine, tune, dyno, exhaust, cams and exhausts mods?

Stock exhaust with just a baffle change, tuner and catless head pipe (Fullsac will sell it to you as a package and that incudes the map for the tuner so that you don't have to have it dyno tuned).

When I had mine done, Fullsac wasn't making the catless head pipe and so had to have my cat removed.

Cost?  I had a lot of mods to the bike itself done at the same time (painted inner fairing, handlebars, tweeter pods, leg fairings, Dakota Digital gauges, etc. etc. etc.)  so I'd have to dig receipts out and break just those costs out.  Many others here have done the exact same motor mods so maybe one of them can chime in here or just give Steve a call at Fullsac.

If you're curious about all my other mods (and have plenty of time on your hands cuz it's 48 pages of mods and comments)....  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=40248.0

My Fullsac package has already arrived at my dealership.  Just waiting for the otter parts to arrive by early next week before install.  I still plan to dyno tune it as well.
