Mine will work forever since I just replaced all the speakers and the amp, so the HD stuff is in a box in case I ever need to re-install it......

Finally there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel. Talked with the mechanic at the dealership today and he has what he needs to perform the M-1315 update. He is confidant that this IS the fix for the BOOM audio system. All 2011's will require this update he said. The way he explained it to me it has to be all programed is small baby steps. Very complex.

Now for the bad news.

I found out today that Toronto Harley will be closing it's doors on April 9th. :o

He gave me his word that he will have my bike back together and repaired by the end of the week......ish. I gave him my cell and told me to call so I can pick up my bike ASAP.

Happy the SB appears to be the solution. Sorry for the bad news though. Where is the next nearest dealer?

There are 3. One to the north, one to the east and one to the west of the city but i don't think it will be the same. I am going to find out where the mechanic is going to go and follow him. He was always honest with me and he knew his stuff.

Mano,

You are definitely the leader on this issue. Nice Job!

Mine has been working without issues since they installed the new amp back in late summer 2011. What are your thoughts? Should I take mine in for this M-1315 update?

Yes I would because sooner or later the problem will peek it's ugly head. Think of it as a virus in your computer. eventually it will surface without the update. I was told ALL 2011 BOOM audio systems requires this update. This update sets up the system properly.

Mine is in the shop and so far not good they are going over the service bulletin, not a software update, involves a stethoscope and a test cd that they down load, just put in new deck today and still cutting out, looks like another amp next.very frustrated.Harley customer service Are you reading this?send new everything, tired of calling you and no results, bike in shop 31 days last time 10days so far this time and numerous times before due to the radio, that 2 other dealers said nothing wrong. At least I'm using a great dealership ,but the problem is the Motor company I'm afraid

Ish....just went over it too. You are right trahog. When you get to the meat and potatoes it comes down to 5 possible causes.

1. Speaker wires shorted to battery.
2. Speaker malfunction.
3. Speaker wires open.
4. Amplifier malfunction.
5. Radio malfunction.

Bottom line it comes down to poor quality components. (#2, #4 & #5).

You are right...it is a joke. It is just a way of figuring out which part needs to be replaced. IF the parts were quality products this would not be required.
