Welcome to the board. :2vrolijk_21:

You can lower that Ultra Classic, also get a narrower "close" seat.  A lot of members here a whole lot shorter than you on them.  Also, the SE Street Glide sits lower than your Ultra Classic also and much lighter, if that's a problem for you.....yet you still have water proof, locking saddle bags and fairing. :2vrolijk_21:

Otherwise, you might want to ask your question on the softail board below.

This is the softail convertible board for CVO.  I guess I was assuming you are wondering about the '11 or '12 convertible to end up here.  I had a 2010 convertible, have an '11 convertible, and am looking at a '12 convertible.  As the 2012 is only $100 over msrp, I would highly advise you go for the '12 as it got the new and improved clear windshield plus gps/mp3 player plus all the same exact stuff you get with the '11.  No difference except in color otherwise......and for $100 more is all.  Colors are always subjective and I like most of the new ones.  It has a lower sitting height so may be just what you need.  And the locking bags are weather resistant as well.  Plus cruise control......   So, if you're wondering whether to go with the 11 or the 12, read up on the shortcomings of the '11 and let your consciounce be your guide.    Pork.

I purchased a "used" 2011 convertible (all of 34 miles) from a private individual a couple of months ago.  I had been looking at them since they really fit my riding needs including barhopping around town and some extended cruising but couldn't pull the trigger because of the price and my '03 fatboy was running great and I loved the silver/gray anniversary colors.  I got a great deal on the convertible, over 25% less than msrp, and it had Rush mufflers and a HD moustache bar already added.  I like the softails because I have a 30" inseam and the seat height and handling is comfortable for me.  I had read about the shortcomings on the windshield and fairing but I saw that there were aftermarket windshields that I could try and I also kept my king size windshield off the fatboy I sold that also fits the convertible.  I am glad I waited to buy an aftermarket windshield since the 2012 is redesigned and for about $500 worth of parts that I ordered ($1200 with the zumo 660) I will pretty much have a '12 model, substantially less than $100 over msrp.  My advice is not to overlook the 2011 models if you get a good discount since they can be upgraded fairly easily to a 2012.

I also just purchased a 2011, used with 47 miles. Cost me 23K, super tuner, mapped, Vance & Hines staggered Big Shots. I had been looking at the Convertibles since they came out and before I bought the 11 I saw the and rode the 12s at Sturgis. I'm happy with my choice. I liked the 11 paint nicer and the texture on the bags over the 12. I think the 12 windshield and deflectors is a very modest improvement over the 10/11. I just took a 4 day 2100 mile trip  2 weeks ago and I would offer this. After a 700+ mile day and a 600+ mile day I was no more tired than on my Electra Glide. The music player is fine up to 65-70 but if you like to cruise all day at 80 plus forget it and use ear buds. For all the comment I have read the only real proper windshield for touring is a Fatboy type. The next long trip I will leave the fairing at home and put on a Fatboy shield. I'm not a GPS guy and wouldn't want one in my face all the time or the unslighty bracket,  but thats just me. The 12 has more content for $100 more but I'm glad with my choice.

You can put on LED inserts which are much brighter,  several have done so and posted results on this forum.

I also have had "rear enders" so I purchased a license plate LED and tapped it into my brake light.   It works very well in my opinion, as there is a lot of difference between brake on and off.  Stock, IMHO, can be missed if you don't see them come on.  Here is a link to the type I installed.   http://www.chromeglow.com/store.asp?pid=6929

:zwtf:  I have a 30" inseam and ride a 2012 FLHXSE without height modifications and my feet are flat on the ground when stopping.  I have also ridden my friends Ultra with the lowering kit on the shocks and it was very comfortable and yes, feet touched flat on the ground....just saying that there are many way's to modify your ride without switching to a different mc.   :nixweiss:

If you like the Touring bikes but the Ultra is too tall for you... test ride a CVO SG... they are substantially lower than Ultras... and they ride much better...
