Just got off the phone with George.  I will install the plate next week and will document every step for anyone who has not done this yet.

I believe it was already documented but feel free to bring us back up to date.  I installed G. Anderson's rack about 2 weeks ago.  Went easy with wife lending a hand.  About 15 mins taking our time.

My wife is looking forward to me installing this plate. It bothers me that Harley does not include this kind of adjustability.

Yip, I figured that was the case, but without his name, it's very difficult to locate.  After a couple of tries, I managed to locate it.  So, thought I'd put it up for any newbies who might be looking for this solution.   :coolblue:  I actually stumbled on it on another Harley board.  :-\

Ordered the tour pak relocator yesterday.  George was as pleasant as all the posts state.  What a nice man to do business with.  This reminds me, need to send his check off in the AM.

Does anyone know if the tour pak sits up higher on the detachable (quick detach) system than it does on the standard mount like the Ultra or Road Glide Ultra? Make sense? Also on George's plate are they per set distances (1", 2" etc.) or is it a slide to your setting? Thanks

You try using the search feature here with "George Anderson"? You'd be surprised how many hits you would have gotten.

Ralph...can't answer the first question, but can the second...the plate has three positions: 1" back, 1.5" back, and 2.5" back.  With Jill, you'd be fine at the 1.5" point...that's where I've got mine for Judi and it works out well for her.

It's about 1/2" higher on either fixed or detachable mounts.
The holes are set in fixed locations, it doesn't slide for in between adjustments.

Got ours in the mail yesterday.   :orange:

It took only three days to arrive after ordering on Friday from Illinois to the Bay Area.  Aside from the great service, the most impressive thing is the level of craftsmanship.  This is one solid piece of alumninum, not pasted or welded.  The paint is good quality and the unit as a whole very solid.  I feel very confident it is designed to support much more weight than will be required of it.

We'll get it installed it this weekend.   8)

Just purchased my third bagger ('12 CVO Ultra) and am very pissed about the tour pack issue.  Just called George and ordered the relocator.  What really gets my BP up is that the motor company will do nothing to mitigate the problem.  I believe when one spends the $$ on the flagship of the fleet, it should be right or made right.

On another topic; has anyone had steering issues on the aforementioned CVO Ultra's.  It is very 'twitchy' while riding at cruise in wind or behind other four wheel vehicles...Allot of whip in the front end.  The Limited does not exhibit this problem.  Could be the lack of the traditional light bar or mass change with the new wheels.???  I'm making the dealer address this issue for sure.

There's another aspect to the tour pack relo, it moves the "balance point" of the bike back onto the rear wheel more as it makes more BSR room. This effectively reduces the amount of gear you can pack ("give me a long enough lever and I can move the world"). I experienced this last weekend on a run to Jefferson, TX. and the "BOO Benefit" (a rally for burn survivors). Not to bad going out but, coming back (having picked up some add'l stuff) bike felt twitchy and the suspension was over taxed a little :-\.
