Adjustable Lumbar on Passenger Backrest ??
« on: October 14, 2011, 09:15:00 PM »

Looking for some feedback good/bad from those that have the adjustable lumbar passenger backrest. Do your BSR's use it, make adjustments? Does it work/help them? I think they started putting them on the 2010 and up SEUC, Road Glide Ultra. Thanks

My bsr likes the adjustability on a long trip. She doesn't mess with it around town or short trips.

After getting the height set on it for my BSR, we haven't messed with that again, but she does adjust the knob a bit from time to time, depending on what jacket she's wearing.

My wife would like it removed ASAP since it it taking up space. We had a 2007 Ultra Classic (non-CVO) previously which of course did not have it.

Well gabhart, let me introuduce you to George Andersons King Tour Pak relocation kit. It takes about 10-20 minutes to install and can adjust it back 1 1/2" - 2 1/2". I got it set back on the 2 1/2" and my wife loves it. Plenty of room and you can keep the lunbar backrest. It was well worth the $189 which included shipping) I spent. Just another option you may not have thought about. Here is a picture after installation. :2vrolijk_21:

X2 what JR said.  Don't remove the lumbar adj backrest until you at least consider moving your tour pak to the rear 1" or 2".  I made my own bracket for about $6 and some POR 15.  I moved my tour pak to the rear by 2" and it makes all the difference in the world.

My BSR loves the adjustable back rest.  She doesn't adjust it anymore since we got it "dialed in" for her.  It was cramped at first for her because the backrest does stick out further than the older style did.  But like others, I put the George Anderson tour pak relocation kit on and moved it back the full 2.5" and she loves the room she has now.
