I just wanted to thank VAZHOG for sending me his disk for the v.8.9 download! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

It did take three tries and about 55 minutes but my radio finally completed the download today. ;D
I have not had a chance to check out the changes yet.

Thanks again VAZHOG!

Since my bike is over at the dealership, I spoke to a service writer about taking care of the download.  He initially asked me if I was having any problems with the radio.  I explained that I thought the download was more about enhancing the radio.  He said that he'd check it out and called me back later to say that they'd handle the download for me.  I'm not sure how I'll know if they got it done.  Any suggestions?

Hi PHAZE,
If you look at the offical Harley website and go to 2006 Touring bikes, then look for the advanced audio system and click on it. It will show you all of the features but it will have a section that says downloads. You go to that and it allows you to print the instructions so you can see what we are talking about.
Basically though you set your radio to FM then turn the ignition off. Next you press any two of the "Soft Keys" (Explained in the owners manual but it's the preset buttons) and keep them pressed as you turn the ignition to accessories position. When in the center display it says "Diag Test" you can let go of the two keys and then press the #4 key which should say "software". That process will show you two files in the center display. and both files should read v.8.9 if the latest download has been done to your radio.
I hope this helps you some.

I've got the CD I burned which worked fine on mine.  PM or call me and I'll give you the CD or install it for you.  No problem. [smiley=cherry.gif]

Maybe I'm not the only one that needs this info.  Do you just put the CD in the player?  Does the player initiate the loading on its own?  I just thought you might address this here.  Call it "CUSE RADIO INSTRUCTIONS FOR DUMMIES."

I'll PM too!

PHAZE,
It will tell you when to insert the CD.  I'd suggest not trying it until you have the instructions in front of you.

Software update did not bring back my dead LCD display.  Dealer I bought from wants to keep my bike until the new radio comes in.  Bye Bye assh&%$.  Second dealer ordered me a new radio and did not understand why anyone wld want to keep it. Same old HD BS.  DREBBIN

Had mine replaced last week, it took over a week for HK to ship the radio direct....supposed to be next day, even with a missed order one day it should get there in two if they have them in stock.  My guess is they are dropping like flies and that HK can't keep up.

New one works great.  Left the bike to get the radio, but I was travelling and it was chitty weather here too.  Pisser was when the radio came in they took two days to do it.

The instructions on the software update state: If your display is blank do not do the upgrade see your dealer, it will restore your display.

Display had blanked a couple times in CC and when I took it in for a couple of items when I returned, the bike came back with a dicked-up screen.  Took it back and they said it went out totally when they were working on it.  I think they got water in it when they washed it the first time, so the solution was to replace it.

Isn't bluettoth standard on the new bike?  That would be where they are going.  I just looked and only gps is standard.  Not sure why it took that long....must be popular.

Both my BT modules came in a couple of weeks (i.e. the original, and the replacement that actually works) and I've only had the replacement a couple of weeks, so I can't see there's a shortage.....

Just did the software update and it seemed like it went flawlessly.  However, now everytime I turn on the ignition, the radio powers up regardless of whether it was on or off when the ignition was shut down previously.  Anyone else have that condition?
