ALARM!!!!!!!!
« on: October 19, 2011, 08:59:49 PM »

:( Last weekend i went to jump on my 2008 cvo springer and my alarm chirped once then went back off, it chirped a second time and then went off again, then next the full alarm went off and I nearly had a heart attack and my ears were throbbing. I had my my key fob with me. I tried to start it 20 more times with the same thing happening. I purchased new batteries and installed them in both key fobs and had the same thing happen again. I got my manuel out and went through everything in their with no respose many times. It is not responding to any of the commands. I charged the battery up fully and checked all the fuses and possably any wire connection  that may be loose.I even disconnected the battery thinking it may reset everything. I tried it again tonight with no luck.Has Anyone had this problem or solution to this. The bike has 4880 miles on it with not a lick of problems. Thanx in advance for your help. Frank

My SESS3 alarm was going off by itself randomly, then noticed tail & head lights were starting to randomly blink. When I set up an air horn & re-wired with a relay, noticed corrosion around ground wire ends by frame's square tube that front of seat hooks into.  Remembered to disable alarm per manual, then unbolted cables at frame, cleaning all parts thoroughly. No problems since.

An previously, made sure fresh batteries in key fobs, tried both fobs, & also made sure when I ride that there is no interference where I keep my fob including having my cell on oposite side of body. Seems to behave most of the time...

Had the same issue.  Installed new batteries in both key fobs and problem went away.

I too had the same situation about a year ago on my 08.  Changed out the fob battery and eveything was good.  Maybe you got a bad battery with the replacement.

My bike started random chirps when I first got on it. replaced the battery and all is fine now.

How long do the batteries usually last.....mine went 2 1/2 yrs

Good information about the cell phone.  I keep both in my right pocket all the time and once in a while my bike chirps at me when I first get on it.  Okay afterward.  I'll try keeping my cell elsewhere.

Since the new style buttonless fobs are always "on", battery life will be much less than the old style system.  I'd suggest making it one of those yearly maintenance items to replace the batteries, kind of like with smoke alarms in your house.

yearly replacement ist officially recommended and will be effected at our dealer without having to remind them. Never forget to have it done to the second fob too as it's battery sees the same amount of use.

If it is still under warranty, go to the dealer. They will change the antenna and that won't do it, so they will change the next part and that will most likely work. Or you can start it using the code each time to by pass alarm. I can tell you all the alarm parts say Made in China!

to be replaced.  Haven't found mine yet, must be under the big battery !.  Still lookn' for the entry that told me

Had the same problem last year on my SERK. I found out there is like three different batteries ( part #) for the FOB, make sure you get the same part # for the batteries that came in your FOB when it was new. When it replaced the batteries with the same #, I had no more problems. Father in law is a mechanic @ the Harley dealership, and they did not know this.
