LED Headlight Question
« on: October 21, 2011, 11:13:15 AM »

I have an 07 CVO RK with the dual halogen headlight.  The last time I took the bike in for service I inquired about getting an LED.  The parts guy told me the headlight I had was the best headlight HD ever made.  He showed me the pattern from my headlight and the LED where mine actually went farther down the road, but not quite as wide.  He said he would be happy to sell me one, but recommended I keep what I have.  I really like the white light and looks of the LED.  Has anyone here made the switch from the dual halogen, and what are your impressions?  Thanks,  Dale

Best money I've ever spend for lighting!  Don't know if your bike has passing lights, if it does, get the LED's for them too!

Did you get them at Augusta, Ga.?  I do not have passing lights which is why I want as much light as possible from the headlight.

not cheap but worth it, my headlight was backordered about a month so i installed the passing lamps first. the passing lamps alone completly washed the dual bulb head light out. cant compare head light to head light because i never run with out the passing lamps on. but it is like night and day campaired to what came on the bike.

I ended up with two sets.  First set was on backorder at Augusta HD.  Stopped in at the HD dealer in Marysville TN and they had um in stock.  When I got home the B/O set was in!  Sold 2nd set to 103Thunder

One of the parts counter guys at Augusta HD is who talked me out of the LED.  Just from a looks perspective I like the Kuryakyn which is also a good bit cheaper.  Would like to see a comparison test between the 2.  I have seen lots of them between Sturgis and Daytona, but hard to tell in daylight which is brighter and puts out a better pattern.

Must have been Rocky!  Just noticed that you're in Edgefield!  Where?  I hunt some in Edgefield county and play poker in Trenton.  One of my favorite local rides is Sweetwater Rd. to Edgefield.

I swapped out my 07 dual hid light for an led headlight recently. I previously upgraded my spots to higher output bulbs, not LEDs, nor hid's.  The led low beam is great. Quite a wide pattern and seems to get farther down the road than the hid low beam. The led hi beam does essentially nothing. I can just barely tell it's on if the circumstances are right. The hid hi beam was much better, though it took a couple of seconds to reach full brightness. I'm not sure it was worth the money.

The hid's were xtralights and the led is moco.
