Road Rage Leads to Homicide on 580
« Reply #2 on: October 23, 2011, 12:13:42 PM »

I came upon this right after it happened......VERY Scary! :'(

Motorcycle rider dragged for more than a mile beneath transit van

http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/EB-580-Shut-Down-in-San-Leandro--132391308.html

A deadly accident shut down eastbound Interstate 580 in San Leandro for ten hours Saturday night.

According to the CHP, it was a case of homicide. The collision involved a motorcyclist and a paratransit van.

The incident was reported shortly before 4 p.m., and closed all lanes on eastbound I-580 just west of 150th Avenue until about 2 a.m..

CHP Sgt. Trent Cross said road rage between the motorcycle rider and the paratransit van driver sparked the initial collision. The van driver hit the motorcyclist, and then dragged him more than a mile under his van.

The motorcyclist died of his injuries. The paratransit van remained on the highway during the investigation. The driver was arrested.

Police did not immediately identify the cyclist, but he is believed to be a member of the Hells Angels gang.

And this was a Paratransit van... tasked with transporting the handicapped. Unbelievably tragic...

I can't imagine what goes through someones mind to do something like this to another human being, not to mention the consequences for the rest of their life over a conflict while operating a motor vehicle!   :nixweiss:

This past Sunday a group of cops who elected to go to Delaware instead of the ride we were doing had a road rage incident on the NJ Turnpike.
Words/gestures/whatever were exchanged with a pickup truck driver. The truck pulled in front of the bikes and hit the brakes. Bikes hit truck, go down, people hurt. Truck got away.

I have a rule, never piss off someone
in a larger vehicle.... You will loose

They might get arrested
or damage a fender or bumper
or get the legal bills

But you get a box...

Motorcyclist killed in Oakland
« Reply #11 on: October 24, 2011, 09:46:12 AM »

This weekend a member of the Nomads, riding with some Hells Angels in heavy traffic was killed by a van driver in what is suspected to be a case of road rage.

This reminds me of a recent conversation on this board where a fellow MC rider said he considered doing something similar.  The bikers were on the right side of traffic in the emergency lane.  The theory is the van driver thought they cut him off.  He drug the bike for quite a distance and tried to get away.  On the news this morning they said the rider's name was George.  RIP George.

Incredable.....a paratransit driver went postal.

What ever he thought (if he felt like he was cut off)....he must have been on a death wish.  I mean they were wearing patches....not likely to be mistaken for a bunch of CVO members.

I think after he did it, he came back to his senses.....then knew he better not stop.  When he finally did stop, he took off runing on foot.....adrenalin flowing.  As it is......I'm sure glad I'm not in that guys shoes.

The Nomad charter of the Hells Angels is out of the Stockton area but certainly not to be confused with the Sons of Anarchy.  :P  OK.....that was my attempt at humor.....I'll quit now.

The link posted above isn't working for me.....I think this is it....  http://www.contracostatimes.com/news/ci_19178766

Hey JC, the link works for me.  Hummmm ???

This subject brings to mind those drivers who think it's okay to close the gap when they see you coming in very slow to stopped traffic.  I've had it happen by accident, when someone didn't notice us/me coming.  That can be taken with a grain of salt and pardons be said.  On other occasions (like me in my car) people move over to give more room. But when you see them obviously obstructing because they are pissed you are moving, and they're not, it is another thing entirely. It happens almost every time I'm in slow moving heavy traffic

Public comment needs to be made by LEO regarding this and drivers put on notice.

By the way, the above offenders name and face have been plastered all over the MSM this morning.  He's toast.  They'll have to keep him in solitary to avoid getting whacked.

(Thanks for the great pictures JC!)   :2vrolijk_21:
