The black and white two tone certainly tones down the alien insectoid appearance.

Plant City Police Department motorcycle officers, including Kyle Russell, left, and Russell Bass, are driving new Victory motorcycles featuring an art deco look. The city's four motorcycle officers previously rode Harley-Davidsons.

Personally I think they look good as a law enforcement vehicles, black and white compliment the Tourer.
I was at a local bike show and lots of Victories around, the Tourers didn't do much for me but these 2 look great.
Reminds me of a cartoon we had here in Australia called the Jetsons, cartoon was based on life in space, the good old days growing up with decent TV entertainment.

Kind of sad they are no longer riding Harleys "on duty" but I get why...the Victory's look better without the big trunk. "Progress"?

Time will tell on the cost to run and maintain the bikes.  A cost study was done on the Harley vs the Kawasaki and the K bikes dominated the playing field.  I do agree that the resale value will be an issue but as long as the losses are passed on to the tax payers it may a factor they don't need to consider.  I'm just used to law enforcement on Harley's, sad to see.  Only takes a slick talking saleman and some deals here & there and changes are made, right or wrong.

Not sure resale value on a Department owned and used bike is going to be huge either way.  No one is going to assume "light use" there and the resale value won't be great.  Have read some municipalities' stuides on their cost of use though.  Have seen use costs for Honda ST1300P at half the cost of prior Harley fleets.  It's a striking difference in operational costs.

Resale value is not in the equation, IMO.  They're pretty much worn out when the PD gets done with them.  Operational cost?  Don't see that being any more than would be on a HD, and may, in fact, be less.  That remains to be seen.

Also, I don't know about this particular case, but most government entities I'm familiar with put out bid requests for fleet vehicles...odds are pretty good that Victory (Polaris) low bid HD to get a foot in the door if for no other reason.

Cops around here ride anything from 'Wings, the ST1300 mentioned above, HD, and I've even seen a Beemer or two.  It depends on what year they put the bid out...PD's are not necessarily interested in looking pretty, only about function and operational costs...particularly with the tight budgets most are faced with these days.

Whether you like the looks of a Victory or not, it's competition, which IMO, is always a good thing...keeps everybody on their toes.

Cops in the adjacent city of Bartlett, TN, are now riding beemers.  A couple of them were in front of me this morning near my neighborhood.  Saw them pull over to the shoulder to set up radar I imagine.  Those beemers sure look awfully small and cramped compared to the H-D EGs they rode previously.  I certainly think that they would not be as comfortable for the officers who are in the saddle all day long.

you can always buy cheaper ,and you can always buy faster.  ..... but you cant buy a better police motor cycle
than an hd. do the math, buy sell / lease, maintenance= Harley come out AHEAD EVERY TIME. and the longer you
keep them the more value thay are. any body that can show something different are cooking the books.

thats my thinking and know one can show facts to show other wise.        axil

When my brother was Chief of Police Operations in my hometown, he had a deal with the local HD dealership to provide him 12 new police bikes (mainly all EG and RK configurations) for $1 ea for a year.  The dealership, obviously, did all the maintenance, and after a year, would outfit 12 new rides for the department and take the 1 year old models back.  The dealership could now freely sell these bikes to the public as they were "used" police bikes.  Now, keep in mind that this was in Minnesota, so most of them didn't have more than maybe 1-1.5K on the odometer when they were turned in.  It was a win-win for both the city and the dealership.
