Author Topic: Thinking of re-entering the CVO market with a ruby red or citrus have some ????  (Read 2029 times)

I had on 08 Road king that had all the motor trouble starting with the weepy cylinders etc........
I was so disappointed and disillusioned with that bike it was eventually bought back at a great price and an 09 red hot sunglow 103 with some other bling was built for me at a good price - Great dealer that unfortunately is now gone....

Any way I have always loved the CVO bikes and perhaps enough to go into debt again over one.
My main question is have the motor problems been resolved or are people still replacing cylinders and making major mods just to have the run right and reliably??
Second, I have read here and there about some paint problems, but not much else regarding the CVO bikes since 2008
So I guess part of what I am asking is am I going to be disappointed again? Don't have the understanding dealer nor the $$ I had before.

11,000+ on my '10 SESG. Only mods are cat free exhaust and a SERT with 2.0" fullsac baffles. Absolutely no engine issues.

Ruby or Hot Citrus, now that is a choice I have been considering and on first glance at pictures back in August I chose the Hot Citrus, this one jumped at me.
Although comes down to personal choice at the end.
Of what I have seen posted both are beautiful bikes.
I can only comment on what has been posted so for anyone that has a SG don't be offended, this is JMO.

Wow Antique Gunstock (Brown) not sure on this colour for a HD but that Hot Citrus is one of the most custom looking colours I have seen.

 :pepper: Ruby Red/Typhoon Maroon
Wow two reds Dark and Light looks great and blends well but not my colour for a CVO

 :jalapeno: Diamond Black/Grey Slate
Looks nice I like the Black and Grey together but not my colour for a CVO

Looking at them from a distance I know which one would look more of a custom so the rest is up to you.

Have fun deciding and if you get a chance to see them that will help to decide.

Red bikes are fastest... ;)  Both the Citrus and the Red are nice colors and really "pop" in the sunlight.  While engine problems have not 100% dissapeared, they are nothing like what you experienced previously.  I remember you being here before (mostly because of the Dead stuff).  You'd want to put exahaust and mufflers on it, and a tune.  There are "do it yourself" versions of that from Fullsac.

I would say that the new 110's are no less reliable than the new 103's or 96's.  The new frame makes a lot of difference, IMO.  And, ABS brakes  :2vrolijk_21:

Buy the extended warranty (service plan) and ride it.

I only have about 3500 miles on my bike, so I can't talk to engine issues down the road... but there are lots of posts here from guys who have lot of miles on their 110s with no issues.

I will vouch for the Fullsac X-Pipe "B" headers and their 2" baffles in the stock cans. Keeps the factory look CVO look, but improves a LOT on the performance. With the TTS map they send with their Stage 1 kit, you will be fairly well dialed in. I run their Stage 2 kit that also includes the Andrews 54H cams, and they send a map for that as well. The 54H cams move the torque band to the right some from the SE 255s that come stock on the CVO SG - maybe 500 RPM - so the max torque is closer to the torque/HP crossover point. They have a 238 duration and a .555" lift, so they need some revs to produce full power... they come in around 2300-2400 RPM - then pull strongly from there all the way to red line. I like this Fullsac Stage 2 setup a lot!  :2vrolijk_21:
