Has anyone had an issue with the cruise/spot switch?  My switch will not always function so the cruise and spots will not turn off with the switch.  If I shut the ignition off the cruise and spots go off and the switch will probably work correct again.  The dealer said they can't find a problem which doesn't surprise me.

Could your "problem" be related to the hi beam switch being on? If the high beam is on, the Passing lights can not be turned on regardless of the position of the switch. Turn the high beams off and see if your passing light switch functions properly. There are several threads you can read if you're interested in wiring your passing lights so they will function with the high beam on. It's actually quite easy.

Have you or someone else tried to do a modification to let the spots stay on with the high beams?  If done incorrectly it might cause a similar problem.  Otherwise, I'd suspect a defective switch, and even a half azzed Harley shop should be able to diagnose something like this.  If your's can't figure this one out, you definitely need to find a different place to do business.  btw, how about the cruise control, will it shut down with the switch?

No mdifications have been done to any wiring.  The cruise is also an issue.

I have the same issue.  Same response from the dealer.
I think the problem is a faulty latching relay, but I have not had the time or inclination to troubleshoot it myself.

According to my source, the MSRP is $114.49, P/N 71765-07, Switch Assembly - Spot/Cruise.    In contrast, the single function Accessory and Power Lock switches are $25 each, and the Speaker switch is $81.49. Back before they combined two functions in that one switch, the Spot switch was $25 and the Cruise switch was $57.  The price of "progress" is steep.

For those prices, you should be able to open it up, extract the pure gold, and sell it on the market.

I remember once back in the early 90s, a company that sold shipping scales wanted over $120 for a 3 foot cable to hook it up to a computer.  I asked if it was made of solid gold.  Inquired a bit more and found it was a standard serial cable.  A few moments later, I had all the parts I needed to make my own from RadioShack.  Made a 12 foot version and total cost was about $24, which included the tools I needed to cut and assemble.

Because there are enough people out there who can't or won't try to troubleshoot it themselves, and will pay that outrageous price! I do agree that it's ridiculously expensive for a simple switch...

I'm not positive, but I think the latching relay is a internal part of the switch.....therefore the reason they can hammer you.

I think you may be right.
I am going to be installing some speakers this weekend and while I have the fairing apart, I will pull the lock and switch panel and look.
