Okay, forget neutral at a red light. How about whenever you stop at home and can't find it?

Mine sucked when it was new (a lot of stuff sucked on this bike, this was one of the lesser problems).  Getting the clutch to fully release by getting all the air out of the system made the biggest difference.  I have no problem whatsoever finding neutral these days, moving or sitting still.  Redline Shockproof Heavy in the gearbox, ATF in the primary, no air in the clutch, and enough miles on the clutch to wear off any high spots that help cause drag.

Old Evo trick... just blip the throttle, and upshift from 1st into neutral as the engine is coming back down to idle.... it will work EVERY time. You'll have no problem finding neutral... try it.

It would be very rare that I try to go to neutral at a red light.  Leaves you less reaction time if something happens and you need to move quick.

1st guess would be clutch adjustment, 2nd would be the auto tensioner ratcheted too tight, 3rd would be compensator, if you have other problems as well.

Redline Shockproof in the transmission makes a HUGE difference...or did with mine, at least. Yes great for me too!

Great advice above. I would go for the fluid first since its cheap and easy. The primary auto tensioner can cause this if it is racheted to tight.

Check the ball joints on your shift linkage...  on my 2011 they were pressed so tight that shifting was very hard...  You should be able to move the ball in the joints with finger pressure.  (Take the linkage rod off the bike to test it)

I agree. I run Red Line in both of our bikes... it's SO much better than anything else in the tranny. I will never run anything else in the trannies now... looks like Pepto Bismol but works GREAT!

Do you happen to know why it stinks so bad when you are changing it??

We had to open the garage door and go outside for awhile and drink 3 more beers each before we could go back in.

You running one of these? If so how do you like it and do you have to remove the primary cover to install?

I did on my last bike and was extremely pleased with it. Install is done in 15 min, only the derby cover has to be opened.

But you will need a spacer.

Another thumbs up for the Redline. I honestly didn't believe that an oil change would make that big of a difference but it did.
