CB Radio Problems
« on: November 02, 2011, 09:25:35 AM »

Bike is a 2006 Ultra.  Only used the CB a few times 3 or so years ago.  Took a trip to 4 corners through some bad weather and thought it would be prudent to hear or ask about weather problems from truckers.  Turned on the CB and the display said "COM option not installed see dealer".  So silly me, like I was in some hypnotic trance went to the dealer.  Dealer said; "it won't work without the headset plugged in".  Really?  I said, show me.  They plugged in the head set and still didn't work.  Dealer then said I must have knocked a wire lose when I replaced my windshield.  I then abruptly came back to realty.

Any suggestions?  Can the CB lose power on its own?  I did replace the antennas in 2006.  Never had the CB "tuned"..

Thank you

CM module does have its own power.
Check to see if the modules power connector has come unplugged.
We run into that alot

I had a 2006 ultra and had same problem. Cb just died and was replaced w a refurb unit under warranty. Then after warranty ran out it happened again and they gave me a discount on another new one. My wife has a 2009 Ultra and no problems yet.
